What to Keep in Mind

Ingredients

Jones Road products are more than just makeup — most also deliver skincare benefits as well, harnessing ingredients like jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, and vitamin E to hydrate and heal the skin.

For example, jojoba seed oil is found in What The Foundation and Shimmer Face Oil, and as a powerful hydrator, it mends cracked skin, and can diminish the appearance of scars, while the vitamin E oil in the Mascara can speed up lash growth, making them grow in longer and thicker.

But it’s more than what’s included, but what’s not included as well. Jones Road products are free of phthalates, sulfates, petrolatum, PEGs, cyclic silicones, EDTA, BPA, and a host of other harsh ingredients. Their clean formulas allow their products safe for many different types of skin, including sensitive, acne-prone and reactive.

Shade Range

The beauty of Jones Road lies with their inclusive range of colors. Their products go beyond the standard handful of shades, but they also include options for those with yellow undertones (like shade medium in their What The Foundation) and pink undertones (like shade 11 on The Face Pencil).

From there, the shades are customized further to accommodate even more skin tones. You’ll find yellow-tinted pencils for light, medium, and dark-skinned women. It’s also relatively easy to find the right shade for yourself using their “Find My Shade” questionnaire.

Your Questions, Answered

What is clean beauty?

Before we dive into the ins and outs of clean beauty, it’s vital to point out that there is no official FDA-approved definition that distinguishes clean beauty products from non-clean products.

Clean beauty should also not be confused with vegan or sustainable beauty. Clean beauty simply refers to the absence of harmful ingredients, but since the term is largely unregulated, there isn’t one set standard — each brand can define for themselves what they view as ‘harmful.’

Jones Road describes their clean products as adhering to “more stringent guidelines than those set by the E.U. to eliminate over 2,700 potentially harmful ingredients.”

Does makeup expire?

Yes, makeup expires. You’ll find an expiration date on each of the products, so make sure to discard any items that have surpassed those dates. If products are kept in a dry and cool place, you may be able to extend its shelf life.

Products that have not been opened and remain tightly sealed in their original packaging will last a little longer as well. Creamier products tend to be the first ones to go, as the oil can spoil, while pencils, lipsticks, and powders tend to have a longer runway.
