Where Is Kirk Herbstreit Announcing Today

SPORTSCASTER Kirk Herbstreit has seen his holiday schedule fill up with the 2023 college football season nearing the end.

The 54-year-old commentator will be busy with ESPN assignments after calling the Dallas Cowboys’ 41-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football.

Herbstreit typically serves as the lead analyst on College GameDay and then as an announcer for Saturday Night Football.

But this week, the Ohio native will spend back-to-back days in the booth calling the Pac-12 championship game between Oregon and Washington on Friday.

The clash takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That means the sportscaster had to quickly hop on a plane for a three-hour flight from Dallas to Sin City after the TNF blockbuster ended with less than 24 hours left until the Friday kick-off.

Herbstreit will then have less than 12 hours to get on the set of College GameDay in Atlanta, Georgia before the show begins at 9 am ET on Saturday.

Alongside Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Pete Thamel, he will front the show from the SEC championship matchup between Georgia and Alabama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The commentator has also been assigned duties for ESPN’s extensive coverage of College Football Playoff Selection Day on Sunday.

Herbstreit will first appear on Sunday NFL Countdown at 9a m ET together with Davis, Joey Galloway, Booger McFarland, and Greg McElroy.

He will then be part of the College Football Playoff Selection Show starting at midday and provide commentary on the reveal of the final CFP rankings.

The announcer’s hectic road trip comes after TNF co-commentator Al Michaels made him chuckle during the Seahawks-Cowboys game with a hilarious DaRon Bland remark.

Bland had just been named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November after breaking the record for pick-sixes in a single season.

But he was ripped to shreds by Seahawks wideouts in the first half of the Thursday game, notably failing to prevent DK Metcalf from scoring a 73-yard touchdown.

“So Daron Bland just got Defensive Player of the Month for November, but obviously, the voters didn’t count November 30,” Michaels joked after Metcalf’s stunning run.

Bland stepped up after halftime and made a crucial interception as the Cowboys turned the game around and secured their ninth win of the season.
