  6. 7.5: Boss: Aquamentus (again)

7.0 Preparing for the Labyrinth

Before we head into the next labyrinth, if you haven’t gotten the first Bomb upgrade, you might want to do that before the next dungeon, because you’re going to need a lot of bombs (see Chapter 5). You are also going to want at least 160 rupees. There’s a particular item that you’re going to need in order to fully progress through the labyrinth.

Once you have 160 rupees, from the start screen head up one screen, left three screens, and up three screens to find two rows of Armos statues. Touch the middle statue in the top row to make it move and reveal a stairwell leading to a secret shop. Buy the Bait here for 60 rupees.

From here, head down two screens, left two screens, and up one screen to find a pond of water here that looks like a Fairy Fountain but isn’t. Use the whistle here and the water with dry up reveal a staircase leading to the entrance of the next labyrinth-The Demon.

Again, you’re going to want to have at least 100 rupees (after spending 60 rupees on the bait) before walking in here. If you do not have that many, start farming for them now.

7.1 Bomb Upgrade

There’s nothing exciting about the entrance hall, so head through the eastern door to find two Moldorms. We haven’t encountered these ones in a while, but they’re still relatively easy to kill. You don’t need to kill them unless you need more bombs, so do what you want with them, and then head through the northern door.

This room is dark contains eight keese that you don’t have to kill, so just ignore them, light the room, and head through the eastern door.

The next room has six Blue Goriyas here, another enemy we haven’t seen in awhile. You don’t need to kill them, so just ignore them and head through the eastern door to find one of the first mini-bosses of the labyrinth: Digdogger. He’s exactly the same as before, so take him down for some bombs if you want, otherwise just run past him and go through the door on the opposite side of the room.

This room has eight Stalfos in it. One of them is holding a key. Kill that one, grab the key, backtrack to the dark room with the keese, and then enter the western room.

This room contains two fireball-throwing Stone Statues and eight Blue Goriyas. You don’t need to kill them, so just bomb the western wall and head through it.

Walking through the wall will lead you to four Kesse and four Blade Traps. If you need bombs you can kill the Keese, otherwise just ignore them and head through the south door to enter a room with five Ropes and a key. Ignore or kill the Ropes, grab the key, and then head north two screens.

You will then enter a room with three Dodongos. If you want an additional five rupees you can kill them, otherwise just head through the northern door to come across the only other useful Old Man in the game. Pay him 100 rupees to get the final upgrade to the Bombs, allowing you to hold a maximum of 16.

7.2 The Compass

With the final upgrade in hand, return to the room with the Dodongos and enter the eastern room to find a trio of both Red and Blue Goriyas. Kill all of them to unlock the eastern door and then head through it.

Here you will find eight Stalfos. One of them will be holding the Compass. Kill that one, grab the Compass, return to the previous room and head through the northern door.

7.3 The Map

In this room you’ll come across three Blue Goriyas, three Keese, and a pair of Bubbles. Kill all of the Keese and Goriyas to unlock the northern door and head through it to encounter….Digdogger again?! Talk about recycling bosses…

7.4 The Red Candle

While you can technically go through the Eastern door, there’s an additional key that you can snag. Bomb the northern wall and enter through it to find a secret room with rupees in it. This is helpful if you’re trying to save rupees to get the bomb upgrades if you didn’t have enough earlier. Bomb the eastern wall and head through to find another trio of both Red and Blue Goriyas. Kill them all to unlock the doors and head through the eastern door to find five Blue Goriyas, four fireball-throwing Stone Statues, and a key in the middle of the room. The door will lock behind you when you enter, so kill all the Goriyas, pick up the key, and then backtrack to the previous room and head through the south door.

Here you’ll come across six Blue Goriyas that you do not need to kill at all. Ignore them, and bomb the eastern wall to go to another secret room (that’s not really secret).

Here you’ll find a trio of Red Goriyas and a pair of Blue Goriyas. Kill all of them, and push the far left block to access the stairwell in the center of the room leading to the Red Candle.

With the Red Candle in hand, head back up the stairwell and bomb the eastern wall to enter a room with six Blue Goriyas. You don’t need to take them down unless you want more bombs, so just unlock the door on the opposite side of the room and pass through it.

The next room contains…oh look! The third Digdogger of the Labyrinth! Whoooooooooooo….meh….This one is exactly like the last Digdogger we came across, except you have to kill him this time. Kill all the parts before they get too fast to hit to unlock the northern door.

Head through the northern door and find three Dodongos (this is essentially recycled bosses: the dungeon). You don’t have to kill these, so just blow up the eastern wall and head through it to find three Bubbles and five Wallmasters lurking in the shadows. The Wallmasters will not appear unless you walk near the wall, but that also leaves you vulnerable. Remember, if you are touched by a Wallmaster, you are taken back to the beginning of the dungeon. Carefully kill all the Wallmasters; then, push the center block near the eastern wall to make a stairwell appear.

Head through the stairwell and climb up the other set of stairs to exit in a room with yet another trio of both Red and Blue Goriyas. You don’t have to kill these guys, so just bomb the eastern wall and head through it to face Aquamentus…who is exactly the same as before but easier if you upgraded your gear.

7.5 Boss- Aquamentus (Again)
