Where Is Liz On Swamp People

Two and a half years ago, a group of TV producers gave a different meaning to the phrase “drain the swamp,” firing a dozen cast members from the hit History show Swamp People for undisclosed reasons. Some of those ex-reality stars quietly returned to their life of alligator hunting in Louisiana, but Elizabeth Choate, aka Gator Queen Liz, didn’t let her former bosses off that easy.

So what happened with Liz on Swamp People? It’s a mucky situation, so brace yourself.

At first, this self-proclaimed “definitive Cajun swamp lady” struck a nonconfrontational tone as she broke the news to her Facebook fans on Aug. 2, 2015, though she did put the blame squarely on the new bosses of the show’s production company.

“Due to unknown reasons by the production company Original Media, my family and myself … will no longer be participating in the Swamp People series, starting with Season 7,” she wrote. “It saddens me to know that our fans are the ones who will suffer from these unexplained actions by the new management of this production company. Reality. We will continue with our regular lives and hope to stay connected with all of you in the future. To all of my fans, with love, Gator Queen Liz.”

That Facebook post apparently didn’t sit well with the producers, though, because they asked her to take the post down, she said. And that’s when this Gator Queen popped off.

“Hello everyone, I was just informed [by] these people [they] want me to remove my post,” she wrote on Facebook two days later. “KISS MY A$$. How you like that post! I was told they had a lot of nasty phone calls and complaints. Well, these people call this business … I’m different. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I will die that way. My family and my heritage stay alive always until I die. I will not stop posting! And I support Louisiana 100 percent. Rather keep my pride than sell my soul to the devil!”

Phew! With that drama in her past, Liz is back to fishing, shrimping, crabbing, crawfishing, hunting, and trapping on Pecan Island, LA. And her Facebook profile is a calmer place these days — with posts about the arrival of her latest grandchild, her seven-year wedding anniversary with husband Justin Choate, her cookbook, and her “Grandmaw” haircut. Good for her! It doesn’t seem like she needs TV fame to be successful anyway.
