If you want to build the most powerful gear in Baldur’s Gate 3, then you’ll need to find the Adamantine Forge in Act 1. This optional area and boss fight are worth it, as they reward you with some of the best equipment the game has to offer. However, simply finding the forge is not enough. You will also need to find six lost moulds to craft different gear. Additionally, you will need two pieces of Mithril Ore to smelt into the moulds. Keep in mind that there are only two pieces of Mithril Ore available, so choose wisely when deciding which items to create.

To get started with the Adamantine Forge, you need to learn how to find it and how to defeat the epic boss. Once you have accomplished this, you can begin crafting your powerful gear.
Where to Find Adamantine Moulds
There are a total of six Adamantine Moulds that you can obtain. However, in order to craft these moulds, you must collect two pieces of Mithril Ore from the nearby environment.
- Shield Mould: You can find this mould on a dead body in the Dormitory. Look for the skeleton at the top of the steps in the rubble. To reach the Dormitory, head left of the entrance to the main magma room with the blocked entrance and Duergar camp. You can jump to a ledge and travel north to reach the Dormitory door.
- Scimitar Mould: From the Dormitory, head south to a broken stairwell that leads to two levers. There’s a skeleton near the levers carrying this mould.
- Longsword Mould: Break through the rock barrier in the northwest upper level of the Grymforge. This is where the Deep Rothe and slavers are trying to break through. Follow the path to the trapped bridge, then climb down to reach a hanging metal catwalk accessible from a bridge controlled by levers. Jump to the central bridge to find this mould.
- Mace Mould: This mould is located inside the Ancient Forge area itself. Look for it on a worktable near the Ancient Forge waypoint.
- Scale Mail Mould: Also in the Ancient Forge area, head south to where the Animated Armour enemies are waiting. You will find this mould on the steps.
- Splint Mould: To the north of the Ancient Forge waypoint, look for a rocky ledge on the left side of the stairs. The mould can be found there.
Mithral Ore Locations
There are two deposits of Mithral Ore that you can find. To break the Mithral deposits, you will need to use a Pick or War Pick. These types of weapons are capable of breaking stones. Keep in mind that there are only two pieces of Mithral Ore available, and you will obtain one piece for each deposit you break.
- Mithril Ore: Near the Ancient Forge, find the stair path leading down to the forge and jump onto the lava path. Walk towards the glowing blue ore deposit, but be prepared for two ambushes of fire imps that will appear from the lava.
- Mithril Ore: Starting from the Ancient Forge Waypoint, head southwest to the lava flow down the rocky path. Jump across the magma to reach the large blue rock deposit. There are no guardians protecting this deposit.
All Mithril Ore can be found in the Grymforge area, specifically near the Ancient Forge. Use this guide to locate the necessary materials and forge powerful items in Baldur’s Gate 3.
