Where Is Prosser

Moving to Prosser

Prosser is a tranquil oasis of green with its peaceful river meandering through a valley bordered by the Horse Heaven and Rattlesnake Hills. This clean, attractive town is friendly to all and features old-fashioned light poles and cobbled sidewalks. Prosser has even been dubbed the “Birthplace of the Washington Wine Industry.” Almost 300 sunny days annually lend way to a variety of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and golf. Prosser is indeed a great place to visit or call home.

There are many reasons people are relocating to Prosser, and once you’re here you’ll find all the activities and services you would want in a modern community accompanied by the small town heart that you would have found in decades past.

The county seat of Benton County, Prosser is located at the far western corner of the county, just 50 miles from Yakima and 35 miles from the Tri-Cities. The local economy centers around agriculture; primarily concord and wine grapes, apples, cherries, hops, asparagus, corn, wheat, and processing plants.

Climate With only about 8 inches of natural precipitation annually, Prosser is basically an irrigated desert that enjoys a semi-arid climate, allowing the region to enjoy all 4 seasons each year without major weather extremes.

Prosser is located in USDA hardiness zone 7, with approximately 150 frost free growing days each year.
