Resetting Your Blink Camera: A Simple Guide

Blink cameras have become popular choices for mid-range smart security cameras in 2023. With their easy installation, user-friendly interface, and top-notch features such as motion alerts, night vision, and high-definition video capture, they offer everything you need for a reliable home security system.

However, whether you’re preparing to sell your Blink camera or encountering technical issues, you might find it necessary to reset your device. Resetting a Blink camera is a straightforward process, although it may vary slightly depending on the model. Here’s a closer look at how to reset your Blink camera and reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network.

Is There a Reset Button on Blink Cameras?

Yes, all Blink cameras have a reset button, although for cameras that connect to the Sync Module, you would reset the module instead of the camera itself. If you’re using the Blink Mini, pressing the reset button will restore the camera to its factory default settings.

How to Reset Most Blink Cameras

Most Blink cameras, including the Indoor, Outdoor, XT, and XT2 models, require a Blink Sync Module to work and connect to your devices. Instead of resetting the cameras individually, you can simply reset the Sync Module and then re-add the cameras to it. Before resetting the system, it’s a good idea to power cycle your modem and Sync Module as well.

Step 1: Press and hold the reset button on the side of the Sync Module until the LED blinks red.

Step 2: Release the button and wait for the LED to blink green and blue.

Step 3: The Sync Module is now in set up mode, and all cameras will be offline.

Step 4: Delete the Sync Module from your Blink app.

How to Reset the Blink Mini

The Blink Mini works a little differently from the other cameras in the Blink lineup, as it doesn’t need to connect to a Sync Module. Instead, you’ll find a small reset button on the bottom side of the camera. Use this button if your camera isn’t connecting to the internet or experiencing other issues.

Step 1: Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.

Step 2: The camera should now be back to its factory default mode.

How to Reconnect Your Blink Camera to Wi-Fi

After resetting your system, you’ll need to reinstall the Sync Module to the Blink app to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network. As mentioned earlier, you can only reconfigure your system after resetting it and deleting it from the app.

Step 1: Open the Blink app.

Step 2: Tap the “+” sign.

Step 3: Select “Blink Wireless System.”

Step 4: Scan or enter the serial number of the Sync Module.

Step 5: Select your Blink system and tap “Discover Devices.”

Step 6: Tap “Join” and “Done.”
