Tel Aviv is governed by a 31-member city council elected for a five-year term in direct proportional elections. Tel Aviv has a population of 404,400 spread over a land area of 52,000 dunams (52.0 km2) (20 mi²), yielding a population density of 7,606 people per square kilometer (19,699 per square mile) as its shown in Tel Aviv map.
