After literally months of anticipation Squid Game: The Challenge is finally dropping on Netflix tomorrow (22nd November 2023) and we cannot wait. The reality competition show is based on the drama series of the same name and sees 456 competitors from around the world compete to win the biggest prize fund in reality TV history of $4.56million.
In the competition contestants will compete in a series of challenges inspired by the game, as well as few new surprise challenges, all while living together in a giant dormitory. So where exactly do you film a reality show that can fit more than 400 people? Well these are all the filming locations for Squid Game: The Challenge you need to know about.

Where was Squid Game: The Challenge filmed?
Wharf Studios, London
Squid Game: The Challenge sees competitors from around the globe compete for the $4.56million prize fund, however the series was actually all filmed in the UK.

The majority of filming took place in Wharf Studios and production used all six interconnected sound stages to recreate the Squid Game environment. Wharf Studios is located in east London in Barking and has 10 acres of land.
Netflix revealed players never left the studio unless they had been eliminated.
“Once players were inside, they never left unless they were eliminated. Players exited the dormitory and passed through the iconic stairwells of Squid Game,” they said.
Cardington Studios, Bedford
While the majority of filming took place at Wharf Studios, the one game that couldn’t be filmed there due to the space needed was ‘Red Light, Green Light’ which sees all 456 competitors attempt to make it over the line without being seen by the large doll.

The filming for ‘Red Light, Green Light’ took place in Cardington Studios in Bedford, which is Europe’s largest indoor space.
The studio was originally used to build air crafts in the 1920s and has over 100,000 square feet of space, with the two hangars large enough to hold four sound stages.
Over the years many iconic movies have been filmed at Cardington Studios including Dark Knight, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Inception. Squid Game: The Challenge is clearly in good company.
