- Kill Gandrel: This is what you need to pick to keep Astarion alive and gain his approval. You’ll have to pick this to advance his companion quest ‘The Pale Elf.’ You can then loot Gandrel’s corpse to get Gandrel’s Aspiration, a two-handed heavy crossbow that gives you an advantage against Monstrosity-type enemies.
