Investigate the Suspicious Toys is a sidequest in Baldur’s Gate 3 that takes place in the town of Rivington at the start of Act 3 and can be started as soon as you enter the village.
To do so you’ll want to visit the house a couple steps northeast of the Rivington waypoint on the southern side of town. Here you’ll see a man named Arfur Gregorio alongside people of the Guild trying to kick out some squatters out of his house.

You can’t get a peaceful solution through Arfur, though you can Persuade Arfur to help for half the cost. If you push the peaceful option, you can use Intimidation to force him to back off. You can also use Detect Thoughts to learn more about a secret but this doesn’t help you.

If you offer to do the job for free or half price, Arfur’s Guild associates will step in. You can negotiate to give them a cut of the profits to resolve this peacefully (500 gold). Don’t stall or it becomes 1000 gold. It’s also possible to start fighting. You can also throw a Melee Attack or use an Intimidation check. If an option comes up to use Mykrul’s defeat, it’s an easier Intimidation check.

Once the Guild is dealt with, you can solve this without fighting. Talk with Ben Golewits to convince him to leave. You can pay 100 gold to help Ben leave and resolve this peacefully. It’s also possible to use an Intimidation check to make Ben and his family leave without a fight. You can also deal with the

Arfur will give you a gold reward (around 300 gold) if he gets his house back unless you agreed to work for free. Alternatively, you can Intimidate Arfur after the Guild is defeated to force him to leave. Ben will not give you a reward if this happens.

Whatever the outcome, head inside the house and go through the door across the room from the entrance and inside this room look on your right to find a little trapdoor that leads to the basement.
Down here be VERY careful as the place is rigged with traps, enough of them to send you to hell and back. Disarm them as you go or run to the corner behind the ladder and you could probably even throw a magic spell/arrow to cause a chain reaction and have them all blow up. You MIGHT take a little bit of damage this way, but not much.
Anyway, our objective here is the southeastern corner of the room. You’ll be able to find a chest that’s also rigged. Disarm the trap and use a lockpick to unlock it and find some gold and a Blackmail Letter. Read the letter to start the quest proper.
Find the dangerous toy donations
To find these toys we need to go visit the little warehouse where they’re stored. For this we want to go southeast of Arfur’s house and speak to Manip Nestor.
As you talk to him, ask what the donations are for to get a new set of dialogue choices. Our only real choice here (for the quest at least) is to pass either of the Persuasion Checks. In doing so you’ll be allowed to enter the barn behind him.
Search the Requisitioned Barn for dangerous toys
Head inside the barn and go around the corner to find the crate out in the open.
Save before approaching so you can pass the “Investigation” Check. This will mark it as a trapped container. Go ahead and disarm the trap then loot the box for some Surprise-Based Teddy Bear.
Find and confront the Toymaker Afrur Gregorio
From here we need to go confront Arfur about these toys. Of course he’s not going to be outside of his house, but you can find him inside Sharess’ Caress to the north. It’s the building where the South Span of Wyrm’s Crossing waypoint is.
Inside you can find Arfur, in the room where the dancer is. In here talk to him and he’ll offer you some gold to stay quiet. Tell him you could’ve killed him and taken the gold and he’ll mention “they” would’ve killed him. Pass the Intimidation Check afterwards and he’ll tell you about “Uncle Felogyr”, that he sent you. Looks like we need to go to the fireworks shop now.
If you don’t have it already, he’ll also give you the Archducal Coronation – Admission Pass so you can enter Baldur’s Gate.

Afterwards leave the building and head north into the Lower City. Here you’ll want to go to the Felogyr’s Fireworks building that’s on the southside of the area.
Inside you can find Avery Sonshal. Tell him the password (Uncle Felogyr sent you) and he’ll let you in through the metal door on the side (where a guard is).
From here on out… I honestly don’t know what the purpose of this is. To end this quest we’re supposed to kill everyone. Yeah, that’s it. We’re not allowed to the top floor (you could go up there if you use an invisible spell) but doing anything will get you kicked out (or starts a fight).
However, I found a couple of neat things you can do to kill all/most of the enemies inside, and without being detected. For this you’ll need the ability to fly or use Misty Step (either spell or scroll will do) and someone with the Fireball spell (again, spell or scroll will do).
After doing so, on this first floor check the southwestern corner to find a closed door. Open it to reveal it leads to nothing. It’s more like a large window but we’ll be using it in a bit.
Exit the building, ungroup your party and be ready to move. Get your party away from the building and have your character with Fireball and Fly/Misty Step to get to the roof of the building SOUTH of the Felogyr’s Fireworks building.
From up here you can see that the third floor has an opening (like another window), and you also know that we opened the first floor. Well what we want to do here is to save our game, then get close to the edge, crouch to be in stealth mode, and throw a fireball into the opening on the third floor. Given that this is a place full of fireworks you can guess what’s going to happen. Yeah, it creates a chain reaction and everything. Of course you’ll want to do this on both the first and third floor.
However, do one at a time and as soon as you throw your fireball you’ll need to start moving away from the building to avoid being detected or starting a fight. If a fight takes place, you’re so far away from the people inside that you can simply walk away and run away from the fight. Rinse and repeat.
After doing this and not getting caught, return to your party and go inside the building. Everyone on the first floor should be dead, and most on the third floor. There were typically 2 on the second floor and 2 more alive on the third. Going inside, if they don’t attack you right a way you can start the fight yourself. Try running up to the third floor so the guards on the second think you’re trespassing and you should be ok.
After you kill them all the quest will come to an end. This feels like a quest that’s missing something, but it’s now complete.
