Where To Get An Enema Done Professionally

Colon hydrotherapy is the application of water into the colon for colon cleansing. Colon hydrotherapy is a treatment for colon cleansing also known as colonics, colon irrigation, colon therapy and colon detoxification. The most popular form of colon hydrotherapy is the enema. Enema use dates back to ancient Egypt and is mentioned in many ancient texts throughout several cultures including the Sumerians, Chinese, Hindus, Greeks, and Romans.

The practice of taking enemas (then called clysters) were very popular among the privileged class and it was not uncommon for some to have as many as three to four infusions a day. History records that Louis XIII received as many a 200 enemas a year. As time passed, the enemas popularity faded, improvements were made and by the early 19th century, colon hydrotherapy was once again a province of the medical community.

It was Dr. J.H. Kellogg (of Corn Flakes fame), who popularized colon hydrotherapy again in the 20th century. In an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association, he writes that he was able to successfully treat approximately 40,000 gastrointestinal patients with diet, exercise and colon hydrotherapy – no surgery!

Dr. Kellogg’s published success led to the development of colon cleansing equipment to perform the procedures, also known now as colonics and colonic irrigation. A colonic is an extended form of an enema. Both the enema and colonic involve the introduction of water into the rectum. However, the enema is a one-time infusion, where the individual takes in as much as a quart of water, holds it as long as they can and then evacuates directly into the toilet. In contrast, colon hydrotherapy involves repeated infusions of filtered warm water into the colon for cleansing by a certified colon therapist while the individual lies comfortably on the treatment table.

While the water is sent through perhaps only the first 12 inches of the colon with an enema, the water from the colonic travels throughout the entire length of the colon. The colon is filled and emptied several times throughout the session and there is no need for the client to leave the table to expel the water. The passage of water is controlled by the colon therapist operating the instrument. The client lies still on the table, while the water and waste exit through the waste tube (attached to the speculum) and through a clear viewing tube that allows the colon therapist and the client to see what is being eliminated from the body during the colon cleanse. There is no odor or health risk involved during the colonic procedure when performed by a trained licensed practitioner.

What to Expect

A treatment may last anywhere from 35 to 90 minutes. Our colon cleansing is done in a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The most important aspect is to do whatever is necessary to calm any anxiety about the procedure. That may be accomplished through either massage or deep breathing exercises. Once you are comfortably lying one the treatment table, you will be asked to roll onto your left side, and I will gently insert a speculum(see picture) into your rectum. The speculum has two hoses attached to it. The smaller hose for the inflow of water, the larger is the waste hose. The speculum and hoses are disposable. You will then roll onto your back and I will introduce a very slow trickle of warm water into your colon, and begin the abdominal massage. I am able to regulate the flow and temperature of the filtered and sterilized water coming from the colon hydrotherapy equipment. The water travels through the smaller hose into the rectum and potentially throughout the entire colon. You will receive a regulated volume of water to your tolerance and temperature that will alternate between cool and warm with a pressure released method to induce and calm peristaltic action.

While lying comfortably on the table, fecal material, gas, mucus, undigested food and even parasites will be expelled and passed through the waste tube and through a lighted viewing tube for observation. Careful measurement has shown that the amount of water entering the body during treatment is between two and six liters. Privacy is maintained at all times and since it is a closed system there is no odor or mess. Most people find the treatment relaxing and pleasant.

For someone who has never had colon cleansing of any kind it normally takes between three and ten treatments for old impacted fecal material to begin to dislodge. It is common to expel a considerable amount of gas during the first few treatments. An individualized treatment program, which includes diet and lifestyle recommendations, will be developed to meet your needs and desires.

The above list is meant to indicate some of the symptoms of autointoxication. It is probably safe to say that anyone who normally consumes a Standard American Diet (S.A.D) would benefit from periodic colon hydrotherapy treatments.

Colon Hydrotherapy is the process of cleansing and toning the colon using infusions of warm pressurized water. Consultation prior to treatment is advised.
