Hunting is probably the pastime you’ll spend the most time doing in Red Dead Redemption 2. It gets you food, crafting supplies and animal parts you can sell for cash. While you’ll earn a few cents at minimum for anything you sell (regardless of quality), if you want to turn hunting into a meaningful income, you’ll need to be pretty intentional about how you hunt.
This guide will tell you about the places where you can sell Pelts, Carcasses, and all the other animal parts, then give you some tips for getting the most money for your work.

Remember that you have the option to turn in animal parts at Pearson’s butcher table in camp. That earns some money for the camp and gets you some options for (cosmetic) camp upgrades.
If you’re looking to make some cash for yourself, though, you’ll have to sell those animal parts to a Butcher or the Trapper.

There are Butchersin Valentine, Strawberry, Rhodes, Saint Denis, Blackwater and Tumbleweed. You can identify them by the cleaver icon on your map.
There is only one Trapper in Red Dead Redemption 2, but he travels a lot (and quickly). He has a permanent stall in Saint Denis near the Fence, then four other locations in the wilderness.
New Hanover Trapper location
The Trapper has a wilderness stall to the west-southwest of Annesburg and west-northwest of Van Horn Trading Post, right on the border with Ambarino. (It’s just a little north-northeast of the V in New Hanover.)
West Elizabeth Trapper locations
One Trapper location is at the top of a hill just to the northeast of Riggs Station. This one is east of Strawberry and (far) southwest of Valentine.
Another Trapper location is all the way on the western edge of the map, north of Owanjila. You’ll find him far to the northwest of Strawberry on the western edge of the Big Valley region of West Elizabeth.

The final one will be locked until you’re pretty late in the game. It’s to the west-southwest of Blackwater on the western end of the border with New Austin.
Getting more for your pelts and carcasses
First, and most obvious, the quality of the pelts you sell affects the price.Perfect Pelts are worth more than Good Pelts, which are worth more than Poor. Focus your hunting on Perfect (three-star) animals to make sure you’re getting paid the most (a lot more on this below).
Less obviously, Pelts and Carcasses sell for more in regions where that animal is uncommon. For example, you’ll get more for Alligator parts in West Elizabeth than in Lemoyne. So, if you’re planning on doing any traveling, consider stocking up on local fauna.
Finally, don’t forget to sell all the other parts you collect. All kills will get you at least some meat, but you might also pick up teeth, antlers or feathers. These are all worth money, too. And remember that Perfect kills of Perfect Animals will yield more meat and parts than lower quality animals.
Use all the tools at your disposal to make hunting easier
There are a few things that can make hunting easier and faster — which will increase the money you get for your time. You’ve got consumables like Bait and Cover Scent Lotion. And, Once you hunt and kill the Legendary Buck, you’ll be able to craft the Buck Antler Trinket.
