Which Ford Bronco Has Removable Top

You may have heard some drama about the roof options for the new Ford Bronco. There are three options for your consideration. Below we have included more details about each.

2021 Bronco Soft Top

This is the standard option on all four door Ford Broncos except for the Wildtrak and First Edition models. This is not your Grandfather’s soft top either. First please know that the soft-top is cloth and not a traditional vinyl fabric. It showcases a unique cargo lift feature to more easily stow items in the cargo area in the rear of the vehicle.

The soft top is fully removable with the use of included tools. The soft-top however is not available on 2-Door Broncos. If your 2021 four door Bronco is being built starting in September, it will come equipped with a hard top preparation kit including connections for the rear windshield wiper and rear defroster.

Molded in Color Hardtop – 4.3L

This option is the standard top for all two door Broncos as well as all Wildtrak and First Edition Broncos. When they say “in color” Ford means that the color of the hardtop is a carbonized gray color that matches the interior colors. This option is NOT a painted to match the exterior color of the Bronco. This option is also fully removable with the included tools.

Four Door Bronco has 4 Pieces to the Molded in Color Hardtop
  • Two panels that go over the first row
  • One mid panel that covers the second row
  • One cap portion covers the cargo area
Two Door Bronco has three Pieces to the Molded in Color Hardtop
  • Two panels cover the first row including the drivers seat
  • One cap is provided to cover both the second row and the cargo area

The rear side glass is NOT removable with the Molded in Color Hardtop option.

Modular Painted Hardtop

This option becomes available for the 2023 Model Year that will be produced in late 2022. This is the option that has a smooth painted exterior finish. It is again fully removable and comes with tools standard. The four door options has removable rear glass. Below is a video from Bronco Nation that shows the operation.

Dual Tops Option for the Ford Bronco

This option provides you the best of both worlds but won’t be available until the 2023 model year going into production in late 2022 calendar year. The dual tops will only be available on four door Broncos. This option provides a combination of the hardtop with the standard soft-top. The soft top will be shipped in the rear of the vehicle.
