Which Is Better Focus Factor Or Prevagen

Focus Factor vs Prevagen

It is normal for brains to age as we age. While bodily ageing is usually hard to miss, age-related cognitive decline can be much more subtle. Brain ageing will typically manifest itself as memory problems, difficulty focusing, and a general decline in cognitive performance. While there might be a big difference between your mental sharpness at age 20 to age 50, year by year the difference might be imperceptible.

You may be experiencing a decrease in brain performance. This could be a sign that you should consider supplementation, namely nootropics.

Prevagen and Focus Factor are two popular options. While neither is ever really held up as the most effective nootropics in the world, they are highly sought after (thanks to intense marketing campaigns). Many people aren’t sure which one is best for them so we decided to compare them in this Focus Factor Vs Prevagen article.

Prevagen and Focus Factor each have different remits, and therefore will have slightly differing effects on you. It is important to make the right decision based on your specific needs. We’ll be discussing the similarities and differences of the ingredient profiles, as well as what you can expect to get. If we feel that they are not right for you, we will also look at possible alternatives.

About Prevagen & Focus Factor

Focus Factor might be considered to be more of a nootropic. It doesn’t focus on just one area of cognitive function and contains a host of natural ingredients that support the claims of the US-based company. Original formula, which we will be mainly focusing on today, aims to improve memory functions and concentration. You will also find a host of other ingredients, which make it an excellent multivitamin.

Quincy Bioscience has developed Prevagen, a supplement that combines decades of research into one of its key ingredients, apoaequorin. This ingredient is found in jellyfish and causes them to glow in dark. A series of clinical studies revealed that apoaequorin may have a positive effect on brain health. Quincy Bioscience also tested their Prevagen supplement and found that it improves cognitive function.

Prevagen focuses more on memory recall for mild memory loss patients. Although it is primarily for people over 55, it is also recommended for those over 40. Apoaequorin has only Vitamin D as an active ingredient. This makes it a much more comprehensive multi-vitamin supplement. As you can see, comparing Focus Factor with Prevagen isn’t always easy.

Focus Factor In Detail

Focus Factor is available in pill form for their standard supplement. However, they also offer shots, drinks, and gummies as part the full range. The original supplement is available as a variety of sizes and bundles. The cheapest per-serving option is the 6 bottle (180 tablets per bottle) selection. The 3 pack, which is relatively inexpensive at just $75, can be purchased for less than $75. Subscribers will also receive a 10% discount.

Focus Factor is very affordable. A 3 bottle pack should last approximately four and a quarter months. The standard serving size of 4 capsules daily makes it affordable.

Focus Factor states that this is quite a number of capsules. They even state that you could take 8 per day if necessary (based on your dietary needs, weight, stress levels, etc.

Focus Factor has 24 vitamins and minerals in each serving. Each one is listed with their respective amounts. They also have their Proprietary Ingredients Mix, which contains the majority of their active nootropic ingredients. Focus Factor has chosen not to disclose the exact amounts of these ingredients to us, which makes it extremely difficult to assess the quality of the supplement. We do know that the proprietary blend is 640mg in weight and contains, among other ingredients:

  • Dimethylaminoethanol
  • L-glutamine
  • Bacopa monnieri extrac
  • L-pyroglutamic Acid
  • Phosphatidylserine
  • Concentrated docosahexaenoic acids
  • Inositol
  • N-acetyl tyrosine
  • Standard extract from Bilberry fruit
  • Huperzine A
  • Boron

These are some great additions to your nootropic mix. However, it is difficult to understand the quantity involved.

Focus Factor is a great source of vitamins and minerals that will only enhance your overall nutrition intake. While you still need to eat a balanced and healthy diet for your cognitive and physical health, Focus Factor is a better option than Prevagen.

Prevagen In Detail

Prevagen is a single ingredient, which is then supported by Vitamin D. We are astonished that Quincy Bioscience has not included Vitamins B6, B12, C and E. However, we can see that Focus Factor also includes minerals like Zinc, Magnesium, and Chromium.

Prevagen’s effectiveness as a nootropic for mild age-related memory impairment is due to the fact that they only contain 10mg of apoaequorin in every serving.

Although there are many studies that support the use of Prevagen to improve recall, there have been some studies where improvements were seen in people who were given placebo. Although the placebo group didn’t show as much improvement than those taking Prevagen, there was an improvement nonetheless.

Focus Factor Vs Prevagen Similarities

Focus Factor and Prevagen have very little in common. They do not claim to have the exact same cognitive benefits, and they target different ingredients.

There are similarities between Prevagen, Focus Factor and

  • Both can be found in capsules, but they also come in chewable gummy forms.
  • Both offer standard strength and enhanced strength options.
  • Both have Vitamin D, but Prevagen has it at a higher dose – 20x more.
  • Both should help improve memory function to some degree.
  • Both supplements can be clinically supported (to a certain extent).
  • Both can be purchased directly from the manufacturer’s website

Focus Factor Vs Prevagen Key Differences

Prevagen and Focus Factor have more differences than you might think.

Let’s look at the most fundamental differences:

  • Focus Factor is more general and focuses on nootropics, with the goal of improving memory, concentration and mood, whereas Prevagen focuses only on memory.
  • Prevagen can be taken by people with mild memory loss. Focus Factor may appeal more to people who are looking to improve their cognitive function.
  • Focus Factor uses natural ingredients we are used to believing have nootropic properties, while Prevagen relies on apoaequorin solely for its nootropic benefits
  • Focus Factor contains a proprietary blend, while Prevagen lists every ingredient with its full dosage
  • Focus Factor recommends that you take between 4-8 capsules daily, but Prevagen only requires you to take one every morning
  • Focus Factor offers a variety of multivitamins, minerals, and other benefits that can be added to cognitive enhancement.

Who is Focus Factor and Prevagen best suited to?

Prevagen is more niche-oriented than Focus Factor, if we accept the claims of both supplements. Prevagen is aimed at people who already have mild memory loss due to age. Focus Factor, on the other hand, claims its supplement can increase memory, focus, and concentration in people who aren’t yet experiencing a noticeable decline.

Focus Factor is also a multivitamin that can be used to boost your overall health.

But there is still one big question. These two supplements are effective nootropics, but how do they compare to our top-rated nootropics.

Focus Factor & Prevagen In Real World Use

For a month, we had members of our publishing and writing teams test these supplements. Prevagen’s results were not conclusive. We found little or no effect on recall and memory in our limited testing. Our tester saw almost no noticeable difference in our results even though we tested Prevagen for just 1 month.

Focus Factor did slightly better, with a slight improvement of recall and an anecdotal improvement at concentration and focus levels. However, in Focus Factor’s testing, there was an improvement in both the placebo and test groups so it is possible that a placebo-like effect may have been involved.

Prevagen has more scientific support than Focus Factor, but there’s no doubt about it. We prefer the Focus Factor mix of ingredients. It is difficult to see beyond the proprietary blend. It is remarkable that the supplement makers have not provided all of the ingredients in the proprietary blend. This is why most people buy it.

Both companies also had legal and advertising problems. Prevagen was charged by both the FDA and FTC with making unsubstantiated statements. Focus Factor was also warned by the FDA and FTC for making unsubstantiated claims.

Focus Factor vs Prevagen Side Effects

Both of these supplements are more like multivitamins than brain supplements. There have not been any side effects reported by users of either supplement.

If we had to choose, Focus Factor would be the winner. Prevagen’s main ingredient is Apoaequorin, which is a jellyfish-protein. The jellyfish protein may trigger allergies if you are allergic to seafood.

We recommend that you consult a doctor if you have concerns about any of these brain supplements.

Alternatives To Focus Factor & Prevagen

These two supplements are not recommended as true nootropics. While Focus Factor may have some benefits, Prevagen’s evidence is difficult to accept. Prevagen’s efficacy has only been confirmed by one company study. It is difficult to recommend Focus Factor because we don’t know how many of the nootropic support ingredients are in it.

NooCube is one recommendation for anyone looking for well-researched and clinically supported nootropics. It has a wide range of natural ingredients that have been clinically proven to improve brain function. There are also hundreds of user testimonials.

Another option is Vyvamind. This is a much more short-term focused study aid designed to produce many of the same benefits as drugs like Adderall nd Vyvanse.

But the best option right now is Nooceptin. This is the most complete cognitive enhancer on the market right now and it has the most robust clinical backing.

If forced to choose between Focus Factor and Prevagen, we recommend Focus Factor if you are serious about cognitive enhancement. Give it at least 3 months before you decide if it’s right for you.

Final Verdict: How Do Focus Factor and Prevagen Compare?

When comparing brain supplements it is important to consider every aspect of the stack. It isn’t simply about which nootropic is the best at increasing focus or clearer thinking. Many of the best nootropics can do that. To decide which stack is best for you it is vitalto consider everything: value for money, side effects, range of benefits, and so on.

When comparing Prevagen and Focus Factor, it really is no competition.Focus Factor is vastly superior to Prevagen in every respect, including is ability to promote healthy brain function.

Prevagen doesn’t contain any ingredients that have been proven to improve cognitive health or prevent cognitive impairment by independent clinical trials. Focus Factor, despite having severe limitations to its formula, at least contains dietary supplements proven to improve cognitive performance in clinical trials.

Due to that fact alone, Focus Factor beats Prevagen on every measure, including safety and pricing.

However, that does not mean that Focus Factor is a good nootropic in and of itself. Compared to the best brain supplements on sale today, we don’t think Focus Factor looks very good at all.

If you want a dietary supplement that is going to genuinely give you a sharper mind, faster information processing, and healthier brain cells, we recommend checking out our ranking of the top nootropics on the market today.

Right now, our best rated nootropic is Nooceptin. Its ingredients have all been clinically proven to work, and it is much more likely to help with age related memory loss than Focus Factor and Prevagen combined!
