Which Is Better Ryze Or Mudwater

Further, did you know that getting in your daily dose of fungi is as simple as opting for a mushroom coffee?

If not… then this review is for you.

In it we’ll be comparing and contrasting two of the industry’s more popular mushroom coffees: an adaptogen-heavy product called MUDWTR and an MCT-rich blend from the brand RYZE coffee.

Ryze Vs MUD WTR Review: Who Makes Them?

Before getting into the nitty-gritty details, let’s overview the brands behind these mushroom coffee products.

RYZE

RYZE is a relatively new brand founded by Andrée Werner and Rashad Hossain in 2019.

One thing I like about RYZE is that they specialize in mushroom coffee and presumably aren’t having their attention diluted by other products.

MUDWTR First Impressions

MUDWTR is a slightly more established brand founded in 2018 by Shane Heath.

On a personal mission to find something that worked like coffee without the jitters, Heath realized that mushrooms were more than up for the job.

He also ended up realizing that he wasn’t alone in this mission.

MUDWTR quickly picked up investors from Thrive Market and Unilever Ventures, and to this day, the brand is said to be a great place to work!

MUDWTR’s website is also pretty stellar.

With sleek visuals and just the right balance of information and minimalism, I’m pretty impressed by how this brand carries itself!

The Mud formula itself also features some pretty slick visuals.

But is MUDWTR’s product as powerful as its marketing plan?

More on that next.

Ryze Vs MUD WTR: Ingredients Lists

Both Ryze and MUDWTR are centered around mushrooms, containing 15-20 calories per serving. Beyond these qualities, though, they’re quite different from each other!

Ryze Ingredients List

Like so many nutraceutical products, RYZE’s mushroom coffee uses proprietary blends.

That means we don’t know exactly how much Cordyceps/Reishi/etc. are in it.

Here are the Ryze supplement facts:

MUD WTR Ingredients List

MUDWTR’s ingredients are even more mysterious.

In addition to being unable to see much of any given ingredient it contains, we don’t even see how much of any given ingredient is there!

In other words, MUDWTR contains 14 key ingredients, with most of them being placed into proprietary blends.

Neither the ingredients nor the blends have their quantities stated.

That’s not good.

Ryze Vs MUD WTR: What About Health Benefits?

In theory, at least, both RYZE and MUDWTR have numerous health benefits, especially because both focus on the benefits of mushrooms.

Here’s a closer look at the possibilities.

RYZE’s Potential Health Benefits

RYZE Mushroom Coffee’s actual mushroom blend totals 2,000 milligrams per serving.

Given that the minimum effective doses of Cordyceps, Reishi, Lion’s Mane, and Shiitake total over 4,000 milligrams per serving, RYZE may be tricky to dose.

Some studies suggest a 4,000mg dosage of Cordyceps alone! (Source)

A single serving of it may not provide enough shrooms to facilitate tangible health improvements.

MUD WTR’s Potential Health Benefits

MUDWTR contains just 1/7th the caffeine that normal coffee does — yet it’s purported to possess many of the same brain-boosting, naturally energizing effects.

The brand dedicates certain health benefits to each key ingredient, which is a somewhat detail-oriented touch.

According to the brand’s website:

“Lion’s Mane [adds] to support memory and focus.”

Ryze Vs MUD WTR: Do They Have Side Effects?

Both RYZE and MUDWTR are thought to be pretty low in side effects.

That’s because the mushrooms they contain are safe and well-tolerated by almost everyone.

Both brands, however, recommend that pregnant and/or breastfeeding women consult with their doctor before consuming.

Those under age 18 may also wish to stay away from these products, thanks to their caffeine content.

Ryze Vs MUD WTR: What Do Customers Think?

Neither RYSE nor MUDWTR is available on Amazon, which means we don’t have access to what are typically the least biased reviews.

The brands do have some pretty positive reviews on their respective websites, however…

RYZE’s Customer Reviews

As of August 2022, RYZE’s Mushroom Coffee formula has over 4,600 reviews.

The average review comes in at a (very impressive) 4.9 stars out of 5.

One customer successfully broke their coffee addiction with the help of RYZE:

“Leaving traditional coffee seemed impossible but I really adapted to this routine and renewed my subscription. I don’t know if I feel better because of the mushrooms or the reduced caffeine, and I don’t care. I like to use the MCT creamer and I float some steamed almond milk on top.”

Less impressed customers, however, claim that RYZE tastes nothing like coffee.

As is so often the case with plant-based supplements, the taste is a highly individual matter!

MUD WTR’s Customer Reviews

MUDWTR’s website is home to well over 3,500 reviews.

The average review is 5 stars out of 5, though we’re guessing this figure doesn’t factor in many (if any) decimal points.

Just like RYZE, MUDWTR is capable of helping users break their coffee addiction:

“I have a cup every morning and I feel no regret about leaving coffee behind… 2 months ago. I not only feel good drinking it but I feel good about my choice. Company culture is pretty impressive too.”

Another customer likes the complex flavors of MUDWTR:

“[…It’s] this cool chai-cocoa hybrid, with all that warm spice & earthy sweetness. Coffee, on the other hand, gives me those smoky, bitter notes. If you’re only drinking coffee for the energy, then yeah, MUDWTR’s got you covered. But if you actually enjoy the taste of coffee, keep your favorite roast handy and enjoy MUDWTR as its own thing.”

Less favorable reviews say that MUDWTR is hard to blend.

Ryze Vs MUD WTR: How Are they Priced?

Both RYZE and MUDWTR could do better when it comes to how they’re priced.

RYZE Price And Refund Policy

Each pouch of RYZE Mushroom Coffee contains 30 servings and costs $36, making for an average price of $1.20 per serving.

With a subscription these numbers are brought down to $30 per month/$1 per serving.

Not bad, not bad at all!

RYZE doesn’t have a money-back guarantee, though.

If you don’t like it or don’t experience any benefits, the cost is still on you.

MUD WTR’s Price And Refund Policy

MUDWTR costs $50 for a one-time purchase ($1.66 per serving) or $40 for a subscription ($1.33 per serving).

At first glance, that makes it more expensive than RYZE, but keep in mind that this product’s serving sizes are larger.

And you can bring the cost-per-serving down to $1.11 by buying in bulk.

Yet MUDWTR doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee, either.

The brand only accepts returns if products are sent back unused and unopened.

Ryze Vs MUD WTR: Which I Would Choose

While I do appreciate the idea of people swapping out their coffee for adaptogenic mushroom blends, I wish that both RYZE and MUDWTR made more of an effort to be transparent with their customers.

The positive reviews of both brands mean their products work—we don’t know exactly how well.

The ideal choice for you likely depends on your goals. If you’re hoping for something as close to regular coffee as possible, consider RYZE (it contains a little coffee, after all).

If you’re just looking for an earthy, energizing blend, however, consider opting for MUDWTR.
