Which Way Does Bubble Wrap Go

Bubble Wrap Supplier Grand Rapids, MI

While most of us are familiar with bubble wrap, it’s important to know how to use it properly so it’ll protect fragile items during shipping. As a protective bubble wrap manufacturer, we make it our mission to help companies find the right packaging materials so their products arrive intact at their destinations. Continue reading to learn what side of bubble wrap goes inside, how to layer an object, and a few other important tips of information you may need to know.

Which Side of Bubble Wrap Touches the Object?

The bubbles should be facing your object to provide the ultimate protection. This is especially true for fragile items during shipping. Not only will the bubbles help keep your items safe, but this method also helps keep the bubbles safe. The thin shield that the bubbles are attached to works as a layering mask to protect the bubbles from bumps and box edges so that while your product is in transit all the pockets of air will stay intact. This creates a cushioning effect so that whatever you have wrapped in bubble wrap sheet, be it electronics or dishware, stays safe.

How to Use Bubble Wrap

Do you know the right way to use bubble wrap for your business? Follow our step-by-step instructions below to get started. For more information on shipping fragile items, be sure to check out our blog post on How to Protect Fragile Items With Bubble Wrap.

Wrap Item on Flat Clean Surface Notes

Find a flat clean surface to package items for shipping. Make sure you have plenty of space for the items you wish to ship and your packaging materials, such as bubble wrap rolls. Make sure you have plenty of space to fold, tape, and secure your object without having to constantly move desk wear or countertop decorations.

Lay Bubble Wrap so Bubble Side Faces Up Notes

Make sure you lay the protective bubble wrap so the bubble side is facing up. That way, the pockets of air will be able to do their job and protect your fragile items during shipping. If the bubbles are facing out, they’re more likely to be popped during shipping. This defeats the purpose of using bubble wrap and other packaging materials in the first place.

Generously Surround Item with Bubble Wrap Notes

Don’t skimp on using bubble wrap for your products. Customers (or family members!) get upset when they wait days (or weeks) for packages to arrive, only to realize the items inside are broken. Not only will you have more customers calling to ask about your return policy, but it’ll hurt your brand in the long run.

To fully protect your items during shipping, you’ll most likely need more than one packing material. For example, while small bubble wrap can protect a TV screen from being scratched, you may also need a foam product to help prevent impact damage. This helps ensure that the TV won’t get damaged during shipping if the package is dropped or jostled. Once you’ve wrapped your item in sufficient wrapping materials, you’ll have fewer things to worry about and more happy customers.
