Pain from betrayal, shame, and rejection, may have left your heart bitter and hardened. However, facing the pain, forgiving everyone involved, and processing your loss through the cross, are the first steps to healing. Forgiveness isn’t saying “okay” to lousy behavior, nor is it a promise to anyone that the marriage will continue. Rather it frees you to walk with Jesus through this and gives you access to the grace and strength He provides. Maybe you have been a faithful spouse. Remember, just like your spouse, you need God’s mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Apart from Jesus’ saving work, you are also guilty and condemned, yet your sins have been forgiven because of your simple faith. Based on this truth, we must extend forgiveness (Matthew 16:8). The following 8 prayers will help you move from the pain and into the healing and forgiveness Christ offers you.
1. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, – Philippians 3:13 NLT
