Music has been the centre of her life since infancy. Leaving school at the age of 14 years, she concentrated completely on her singing – ‘busking’ on the streets of Glasgow. She achieved her first chart success with the Alice Band and songs like ‘Now That You Love Me’ and ‘Nothing On But The Radio’. After they disbanded, Amy decided to pursue a solo career. Her first single on her own ‘Didn’t I Say’ was published in 2004.

The 13th of October 2004 was a very special day for Amy Belle, one she’ll never forget. Busking on the streets in Glasgow, she was noticed by a friend of Rod Stewart. And just like that, she came to be on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall in London together with the great Scottish singer for a very special concert. The concert was called ‘One Night Only’, was later published as a DVD, and presented the then 22-year-old Amy Belle to an audience worldwide. Along with other guests on the night, such as Chrissie Hynde and “Wrinkly Rocker”™ Ron Wood, Amy and Rod gave a wonderful performance of ‘I Don’t Want To Talk About It’ which stunned the audience at the sold-out Albert Hall. (This performance has been watched on YouTube over thirty million times!)
Since then, a lot of things have happened in her life. Rod Stewart’s people brought her into contact with seasoned experts like John Shanks in Los Angeles who wrote, among other things, Kelly Clarkson’s hit ‘Breakaway’, Anastasia’s ‘Piece Of Me’, and Alanis Morissette’s ‘So-Called Chaos’. During that time, Amy not only learned a lot, she also carried on working on her own songs and music and gathered live experience. She performed on stages in New York pubs and then returned to become a mainstay of the Glasgwegian music scene. She has continued to write with John Shanks and has recently had a song covered by the million-selling Miley Cyrus.
“Lost In The Shortcut” is a collection of songs written by herself and with the likes of Eg White (Will Young’s ‘Leave Right Now’, Adele’s ‘Chasing Pavements’) and Paul Statham (Dido).
