Read Matthew 6:24.
Whom are we serving in this life? Who is the master of our life? Jesus stated that no man can serve two masters. The word “serve” means to obey and submit to someone or something. We all must make a decision to follow after our own desires or to follow the Lord. Our basic human “reset” is to follow our flesh and the world’s enticements, but we must determine to follow the Lord and allow Him to be our master and guide.

I know more blessings come into my life when I choose to follow the Lord. I must keep my eyes on Him and not on the circumstances around me. In Matthew 14:29, Peter walked on the water when the Lord called him to step out of the boat. He chose to step out by faith, and he walked on the water. He, too, struggled when the wind and waves distracted him, and his eyes went away from the Lord, but Jesus reached down and pulled him up to safety.

The Lord was faithful and forgiving in Peter’s victorious moments as well as his failing moments. Peter also went back to his “reset,” fishing, after the Lord’s crucifixion, but when the Lord called to him from the seashore after His resurrection. Peter recognized His voice. He dove into the water and came to the shore, following the Lord for the rest of his life.
We cannot sit on the fence and be neutral in our lives concerning who we are serving. We are either serving Him or something else. We must take that step and follow the Lord every day of our life. We need to show our loyalty and our faithfulness to Him. This is a decision that only you can make. Will you choose to serve Him today?

- Are you struggling with following your fleshly desires? What is the root of your struggle?
- Would you consider choosing to take the higher ground and serve the Lord completely? What is slowing you down from making this commitment?
- What can you do today to get closer to the Lord? Begin small, but stay consistent.

Prayer
Dear God, I know that I cannot serve two masters. Help me to love You and nothing else. Help me to obey You and submit to You. I want You to be my master and guide. I don’t want to sit on the fence. I want to be 100% loyal and faithful to You.
