The sister of a 43-year-old woman who was robbed in her Riverside apartment and stabbed 80 times by two juveniles to ensure she was dead says justice was served by their convictions, but she is still angry.
Anthony Eredia, now 17, was sentenced Friday, Aug. 26, to 26 years to life in state prison for the murder and robbery of Marlo “China” Williams in her apartment in the 1100 block of Orange Street days before Christmas in 2014.

A Riverside County Superior Court jury found him guilty recently. A second defendant, Daniel Vincent Davidson, now 18, pleaded guilty in September 2015 to murder and use of a knife and was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison, John Hall, Riverside County District Attorney’s Office spokesman, wrote in an email.
Williams was the youngest of nine children.

“I believe in forgiveness and compassion because that’s what the Bible says, but we were angry,” said Lisa Bennett, an older sister.
Family members sat through the trial, listening to details about what happened and the description of the defendant as a “stone-cold killer,” the sister said. They had called police when no one could reach her and found her body.
One of her sisters called Williams’ cell phone twice looking for her and a man answered saying she had a wrong number. Using cell phone records and interviews, police tracked down the teens, who lived on the north side of Riverside, court records show.
“It was a robbery. They wanted to steal the weed (marijuana) that she had, but you kill her for weed?” asked Bennett.

The teens tried to minimize their involvement. Eventually Eredia said he had purchased marijuana from Williams several times and admitted that he had on prior occasions discussed with Davidson and a third unnamed teen “the idea of killing (Marlo) and stealing her marijuana,” court records state.
The third teen “told them he was not interested and if they did in fact ever do it, to not tell him about it,” court records show.
Eredia choked Williams for about 10 minutes and punched her in the head and face as Davidson used three knives to repeatedly stab the victim. In the end, they could only find about half an ounce of marijuana to steal.
“It was horrible,” the sister said, because one of the teens opened one of Williams eyes to make sure she was dead.
