Who Did Remy Shoot

Now she’s sorry – but her victim’s not having it.

Whimpering for mercy, bad-girl rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday after tearfully apologizing to the ex-friend she shot in the gut during a beef over money.

The Bronx tough girl, 26, blubbered as a judge slammed her for blasting Makeda Barnes-Joseph last July following a night of drinking in the Meatpacking District.

“I’m not a menace to society,” the rapper cried. “I’m not a thug.”

“I’m pleading with you to give me a second chance,” she told an unmoved Judge Rena Uviller.

“I apologize, I apologize,” she whined, begging for mercy for the sake of “my little boy.”

In her victim’s statement, Barnes-Joseph urged the court to throw the book at the fallen star, whose real name is Remy Smith.

“I will always be the girl they whisper about,” she wrote in the letter read by prosecutor Michael McIntosh. “I will always be the girl who got shot by Remy.”

She also said that she doesn’t believe Remy is really sorry.

“Even up until last week, Ms. Smith was on the radio still making a mockery of this whole situation,” she wrote.

“Each denial by the defendant wounded me as [if] I was being shot all over again.”

The judge agreed.

Uviller called Remy an “extremely angry woman” who “does not take any responsibility for her actions.”

“She does not have real remorse,” the judge said.

Remy’s lawyer, Ivan Fisher, portrayed the single mother as “a woman whose life is very much worth saving.”

Remy, who once rhymed about packing a gun on the track “Guilty,” pulled her .45-caliber handgun on the 24-year-old Barnes-Joseph after accusing her of stealing money from her purse.

The shooting victim said those false allegations still sting.

“The fact that Remy even accused me of stealing any amount of money was clearly ridiculous,” she wrote. “That is why moments before I was shot, I remember realizing that Ms. Smith was not the friend I thought she was.”

Remy was facing a possible 25-year sentence when she walked into Manhattan Supreme Court; prosecutors wanted at least 13.

The sentencing came a day after her plan to marry rapper boyfriend Papoose at Rikers Island was nixed by officials when he allegedly tried to sneak in a handcuff key.

Remy will now have to serve at least six months and be married before she can even request conjugal visits, said a spokesman for the state Department of Correctional Services.

Papoose called Remy’s conviction an “injustice.”

He denied he was trying to spring her in Monday’s aborted nuptials: “I had visited Rikers Island for months with that thing on my keychain and there was no problem,” said the Brooklyn-born rapper, whose real name is Shamele Mackie.
