Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it as long as we keep the faith, do his will, keep His commandments

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Ezek 44:12 “I have sworn with uplifted hand that they must bear the consequences of their sin, declares the Sovereign LORD.”

There is your continual free will choice to be made: either you are a slave to sin or you are a slave of righteousness. There is no middle ground.
