Although many of Hilda’s relationships on Ugly Betty ended up failing, she did ultimately end up with and married to Bobby.

The Ugly Betty characters also went through a lot over the course of the show’s four seasons. This includes Hilda, who went from unlucky-in-love in the first three seasons, to married in the series finale.

Ugly Betty, which was developed for American audiences by Silvio Horta and ultimately broadcast on ABC, may have been just one of many international adaptations of the Colombian telenovela “Yo soy Betty, la fea”, but the series certainly cemented its place in popular culture over the course of just four seasons.

In fact, by the time that the show’s cancellation was announced in 2010, Ugly Betty had already won two Golden Globe Awards.

Moreover, it had received multiple Primetime Emmy awards and was even honored with a Peabody Award.

A look into who Hilda ends up with in Ugly Betty

Hilda Suarez, who was played by the talented Ana Ortiz, may have not been the main focus throughout the series’ four seasons, but her storyline certainly was not boring.

Hilda, Betty’s more outspoken and fiercely protective older sister, was often the exact opposite of Betty.

Where Betty generally mulled over her decisions for episodes on end, Hilda was known for making rash decisions which often landed her in hot water.

This includes becoming pregnant with her son, Justin, at the age of 17, and then reuniting with Justin’s father, Santos, who had been largely absent from their lives up until that point in the first season of the series.

Although it initially seemed like Hilda and Santos would be able to rebuild their relationship and the couple even got engaged at one point, Santos was fatally shot in the season one finale, before he and Hilda could make it down the aisle.

Hilda’s bad luck in romantic relationships continued throughout most of the first three seasons of the show and none of her following relationships with “Coach” Tony Diaz and Archie Rodriquez quite worked out.

Fortunately though, all of this changed when Hilda’s old boyfriend from high-school, Bobby Talercio, came back into her life in the fourth season of the show.

Hilda and Bobby’s (second) relationship started out slightly rocky, but the couple managed to work it all out and even ended up getting married in the show’s penultimate episode “The Past Presents The Future”.

When Bobby first entered the series in season four, he already knew that he still had feelings for Hilda. However, she was already involved in a relationship with the politician, Archie Rodriquez, at the time.

Hilda ended up cheating on Archie with Bobby and ultimately falling pregnant in the process.

But even though their relationships had to withstand more than a few setbacks, the couple ultimately decided that they could make it through anything together. They then got engaged in the “Fire and Nice” episode in season four.

Some of the other important things that happened at Hilda’s wedding

Hilda’s wedding was certainly one of the high-points of the fourth and final season of Ugly Betty. But as is always the case, many of the characters were dealing with their own decisions and realizations during the ceremony.

Betty, for one, had decided that she would take Mr. Dunne’s offer to accept a new job in London. Daniel, on the other hand, (who was forced to attend the wedding alone) realized during Hilda’s moving speech that he actually had feelings for Betty.

What Ana Ortiz has been up to since Ugly Betty ended

Ana Ortiz played Betty’s sister Hilda Suarez for the entire four years that the series was on television, and she has been quite busy in the thirteen years since the show ended.

In real life, Ortiz has been married to a musician named Noah Lebenzon since 2007.

The couple has two children together and they are seemingly still going strong to this day. Ana’s first big role after her role in Ugly Betty came in the form of the lead role of Marisol Suarez in ABC’s drama series, Devious Maids, which ran from 2013 to 2016.

But Ortiz also had roles in other well-known shows like Revenge, How to Get Away with Murder, Black-ish, Angie Tribeca, Whiskey Cavalier, Love, Victor and more.

Moreover, Ortiz also has a surprise reunion with America Ferrera (who played Betty) in her show Superstore, in 2019.
