Different theories have emerged in social media that seek to justify and explain the so-called Project Abigail, one of the cruelest and most terrifying experiments that have been sheltered under the hermetic facilities of Area 51. Twitter users revived the legend and intrigue about the story of Abigail Wester, a beautiful and sympathetic college student whose father, Albert Wester, worked on a team of researchers of complex experiments at Area 51.

It is said that all this happened after the end of WWII, precisely when Area 51 was designated as a territory for military and scientific use, to develop tests and experiments of a confidential nature; from medical tests to nuclear experiments. The research team where Albert Wester worked was developing some experiments that studied human anatomy.

For their next project, they needed a trusted volunteer, since the results could be so revealing that they had to make sure to keep them completely secret. That is why they recruited Abigail, Albert’s daughter, as a study subject; the young woman accepted since she was developing a project at the university on Area 51.

To prepare the girl, the scientists performed multiple studies on Abigail that caused significant changes in her skin, which began to wrinkle like that of a beast, accelerated and excessive growth of teeth, and loss of reasoning and control over her impulses. Faced with the scenario of a completely dehumanized woman, multiple scientists asked to stop the experiment and try to return Abigail to her pre-experiment state; however, there was not much to be done, as Abigail’s body had become dependent on the multiple substances administered to her daily, this project became known as Project Real Abigail, in honor of the girl.

Food service personnel at Area 51 claimed that they received orders to take large quantities of food to a kind of cage, but they never knew what the creature that lived in it was. As the years passed, Abigail’s father could no longer bear the pain of seeing his daughter turned into a monster and decided to end his life.

In his farewell letter, he asked that they try to recover his daughter or at least not sacrifice her. However, the U.S. Army terminated Project Abigail and opted to starve the monster to death, to avoid any further expense. However, the first night that Abigail was not fed, she decided to escape, and in the morning only the corpses of the guards who were guarding the fence were found. Today, some claim that this beast is still haunting Area 51.

But, in reality, people should not take this type of information so seriously, since it is only a story called creepypasta, that is, a horror story that is shared on the Internet and gains strength as users share it.

It is believed that this creepypasta may have its origin in a scientific test called Biosphere 2 conducted in 1992, which sought to determine in what extreme situations humanity could survive. For this purpose, a mangrove swamp, a desert, and a coral reef were built in less than one hectare, where seven people lived for a month.

In this experiment worked Abigail Ailing and Mark Van Thrillo, who managed to escape 2 years after the experiment started because the sealed environment of the biosphere led to the uncontrolled growth of pests, such as worms and cockroaches, which directly attacked the crops. Biosphere 2 ended up in very strong legal problems but without any damage close to those mentioned in the creepypasta called Project Abigail.
