Please tell me I am not alone?
Every week when I sit down to watch Once Upon a Time, I long for news of Pinocchio, aka August Booth, aka Eion Bailey, aka Kyle DuFours, aka Private Webster. I have never been one for men on motorcycles, but when he rode in on that fateful StoryBrooke day I swooned a little inside.

We last saw August in his bed at Granny’s, turning to wood as Emma, in her new found belief, approached him for help in breaking the curse. We see him only once more after this, blinking after the curse has been broken. He has been hinted at several times in the second season. Geppetto searching for his son by putting up posters is finally told by Henry where the “boy” can be found. When Geppetto arrives, there is an empty bed. There was even an entire episode after this devoted to part of August’s back story, when it is revealed that Emma had pulled a Bonnie and Clyde story before conceiving Henry. But what are we left with in current times?

C’mon writers! I expected the episode after this to focus on the wooden man and his father, but no! After Gepetto’s discovery in “We Are Both” we get “Lady of the Lake,” an excellent continuation of several story lines but with no closure to the previous week’s revelation. Is he in the shower? Has he left Storybrooke? Can he leave Storybrooke? Has he gone in search of Neal Cassidy? Was it August who sent the note via carrier dove?
There are still many unanswered questions in Once Upon a Time, many fairy tales to tap into. After this week’s venture into the world of Dr. Frankenstein, confirming that we are not limited to fairy tales, Mulan’s magic poppy dust certainly means that Oz will feature at some point. As far as Pinocchio goes, there are many avenues to explore in Collodi’s original stories, narratives left untapped by Disney.
With all roads open ahead, and so many behind yet to continue, I’m eager for this one. What is your most passionate longing for Once Upon a Time?
