Brenda Ladun is an American journalist and the evening news anchor for ABC 33/40. She anchors the 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. News. She has worked in Birmingham television (ABC 33/40) for more than twenty years.
She is a graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. After her college studies, she proceeded to work for a number of stations before settling in Birmingham’s ABC 33/40.

Prior to joining ABC 33/40, she had worked at WBRC 6 from 1987 to 1996. In her career, she has won the Alabama Associated Press Awards for Best Investigative Reporter and Best Specialized Reporter five times. She has also won the Associated Press Award for best anchor.
Brenda has also won several community awards for her work with the underprivileged. She works with the Grace House Christian Home for Girls and the American Cancer Society and teaches Sunday school at Hunter Street Baptist Church as well as participates in other community organizations.

In February of 2001 and in 2007, she was diagnosed with cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery (double mastectomy). With success, she completed chemotherapy. She has made it a priority to make sure the public has access to cancer information through the Cancer Resource Center on ABC 33/40’s website.
Brenda is committed to keeping ABC 33/40 viewers aware of developments in the search for a cure with nightly “Cancer Facts.” She is a regional spokeswoman for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and has written three books about her recovery. For a special series, she aired about breast cancer she was given the Edward R. Murrow Award for Radio and Television Journalism.
