The mystery girl who pop star Harry Styles wrote about in love song ‘Carolina’ is a beautiful 20-year-old college student he met on a blind date, DailyMail.com can reveal.
The star was clearly bowled over by pretty brunette Townes Adair Jones who he met in Los Angeles a couple of years ago.

And the One Direction heartthrob decided to include her – and details of their memorable liaison – on his self-titled debut solo album.
DailyMail.com can reveal that Styles, 23, met Townes through mutual friends of her sister, actress Gilland Jones, while on a break from recording his album.

A friend of Townes told DailyMail.com: ‘They were set up on a blind date and it was sort of a natural thing, they really hit it off.
‘They only met the once but both had a memorable night, so memorable that it inspired Harry to write a song about her.
‘Townes is still spinning over it, it was a shock, such a surprise.’
Styles sings in upbeat ‘Carolina’: ‘I met her once and wrote a song about her, I wanna scream, I wanna shout it out, I hope she hears me now.’
The song – which Styles performed on the Late Late Show on Monday night – says Townes has family in ‘Carolina’ and that she told him that he reminds her of home.

Styles even drops Townes’ first name into the lyrics, leaving his millions of fans wondering who the mystery girl is.
The lyrics go: ‘So far from home. She never saw herself as a West Coaster. Moved all the way ’cause her grandma told her. “Townes, better swim before you drown.”‘
DailyMail.com has learned that Townes was in fact born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina but currently lives in LA where she is a double major student in French and Philosophy at UCLA.
Another line in Styles’ song says: ‘She’s got a book for every situation.’
The friend, who asked not to be named, says this sums the intelligent beauty up.
‘She is a book worm, she’s super smart and reads a lot, so that’s why the song says that,’ the friend said.
The lyrics also suggest Townes is somewhat of a party animal, with Styles singing that Townes ‘gets into parties without invitations’ and ‘there’s not a drink that I think could sink her.’ – which is curious as the legal drinking age in the US is 21.
The chorus goes: ‘She’s a good girl. She’s a good girl. Yeah, she’s a good girl. She feels so good.’
The friend said Townes was ‘surprised’ by Styles’ song but thinks it is ‘lovely’ and ‘adorable’.
‘The story is as cute as the song is, she thinks it’s adorable, really sweet, but she was really surprised by the gesture,’ the friend said.

‘She never imagined he’d do something like this. She loves the song, and thinks it was very lovely of him to do it but doesn’t really want any of the attention that comes along with it.
‘She is a very private person and didn’t want to go around telling everyone about this, while eight million other girls probably would.’
It’s believed the pair never actually dated more than once, but Styles contacted Townes after his song was released and they are on friendly terms.
Back home in Greenwood, a small city of around 23,000 people, Townes’ father is William Townes Jones IV, who according to local newspaper reports retired as Solicitor of the Eighth Judicial Circuit in 2004 after 19 years service.
Her mother is Rosann Wilson Jones who appears to run a fashion business.
She has sisters Isabella, 18, Campbell, 16 and Gilland, 23 – an actress who has appeared in several movies and on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.
The family is also related to veteran actor Bo Hopkins, also from South Carolina, who starred in several movies and was a regular on hit TV shows like A-Team, Charlie’s Angels and Dynasty.
The friend said Townes ‘developed a relationship’ with LA when her family traveled from Greenwood to the city so her older sister could attend auditions, and she eventually opted to attend college there.
‘She was home schooled as were her sisters, so the family could travel everywhere together,’ the friend said.
But if Styles has visions of rekindling his romance with Townes, he’s out of luck – social media posts suggest the beauty is off the market.
Townes declined to comment when approached by DailyMail.com.
