Who Is Chad Ehlers

A North Georgia man, who is considered a TikTok influencer says he will return the donations he received to assist with his daughter’s medical bills.

Channel 3 first introduced you to Chad Ehlers back in January. Since then, we’ve been contacted by multiple donors with concerns.

Chad Ehlers says he’s been harassed on social media by people who claim he’s using donations intended to help his daughter with her cancer battle, in other ways.

A GoFundMe page, Ehlers confirms was linked to his bank account, has now been deactivated, after raising nearly $60,000.

Ehlers has used the platform to share stories about his daughter Mia. Mia, just two years old, has leukemia.

In January, Ehlers rallied other TikTok influencers for a fundraiser in Chattanooga to support the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, where Mia has been treated.

Since then, he’s kept the momentum going, raising nearly $60,000 on a GoFundMe page and posting daily updates on Mia.

He also collects donations on Venmo, Paypal, the Cash App, and through his website, Chad Change, where he sells #FightlikeMia clothing.

“Expected that money to be distributed out to whatever it needed to be, not to go directly to him,” Mandie Allison told us.

Mandie Allison is one of several donors across the country who say they feel misled, believing that by donating to one of the pages they were helping Mia.

“I’m sick of the hate,” Ehlers said, “They’ve said that I spent the money on plane trips to fly women in, all kinds of stuff, you name it.”

Ehlers sat down with Channel 3 about the backlash on social media.

He admits that the fundraising is his source of income and the money raised doesn’t all go to Mia’s care but says helping him is helping Mia.

That’s why he says the pages have promoted that donations “support Chad and Mia.”

Channel 3 asked Ehlers, “Do you agree that that sounds like it’s going towards Mia? By that title.” Chad responded and said, “It goes to Mia and Chad. Yes, this is what I do. I feed my child. There’s nowhere in there that tells anyone to go do that.”

Ehlers posted a video saying he would refund people their money if they asked for it.

Mandie Allison, from Michigan, was a part of Chad Change, but says she left the group after speculation Ehlers was misleading people with how he was using the money.

She paid him on the Cash App and requested a refund.

“He’s declined it twice,” Allison said.

We checked back Friday and Ehlers has removed mention of supporting Mia when soliciting donations on his pages.

We checked in with Erlanger on the donation page set up in Mia’s name. A hospital spokesperson says that fundraiser is tied directly to the hospital, not Ehlers, and all donations go directly to the hospital.
