“Hey guys, it’s me Tyler”, he says, at the beginning of the 17-second clip. Beside him sits a young girl whom Tyler introduces as “Esmeralda”.

But, as she rightly says at the end of the video, “that’s not my name!” Her real name is Chloe Clancy.
She’s featured as a vocal artist on two tracks, one from Odd Future Records (MellowHype – Numbers) and one from Warner Bros Records (Mac Miller – The Divine Feminine), from 2012 and 2016 respectively.

Chloe Clancy (aka Esmeralda) turned 14 in July last year. She posted on Instagram in celebration of her 14th birthday.
Tyler and Odd Future presented her with multiple birthday cakes while singing Happy Birthday, but rather than call her Esmeralda or Chloe, they called her “Bah Bah”.

Who is Chloe Clancy to Tyler, the Creator?
Chloe is the daughter of Christian Clancy, who is – or at least was – one half of Odd Future’s managerial team.
A BuzzFeed feature from July 2013 describes Christian and his wife Kelly as “in every respect, the resident grown-ups” at Odd Future.
They were at the centre of what the outlet describes as a “boundary-fluid […] coterie”, existing “both above the fray and in the middle of it”.

He was 42 in 2013, meaning he’s currently in his early 50s. Kelly is nine years younger. Their daughter Chloe, BuzzFeed continues, “has her mother’s face on her father’s head”, and “a magnetic command”.

Much has changed in the last 10 years, but fans of Tyler, the Creator – and/or those who have seen his viral video featuring “Esmeralda” – may find Christian Clancy’s AMA answers of interest.

Chloe, meanwhile – who actually goes by Kelly Clancy on Instagram – has 143K followers on the platform. She posted most recently at the end of 2021, to congratulate Tyler on his Golf Le Fleur project.
