America can’t get enough of HGTV’s Ben and Erin Napier! In fact, the network just revealed via press release that an episode from the current season of Home Town delivered one of the series’ highest TV ratings to date.
The Home Town episode “All In The Family” which aired on Sunday, February 14, 2021, saw a huge spike in viewership. As HGTV notes, the episode “delivered a .94 live plus three-day rating among P25-54—a series best since March 2017.” This rating, provided by Nielsen, noted that more people between the ages of 25 to 54 ( aka Home Town’s target demographic) tuned in to watch this episode live or via DVR within three days of its air date, since March 2017. While this episode did not garner the most viewers of all-time (as old episodes continue to be streamed to this very minute!), this ranking is extremely significant as more people watched the episode within its first three days than the show has seen in almost four years.

In addition to sharing this impressive live+3 rating, HGTV also noted that the series is the top-visited show page on HGTV.com with more than 9.7 million page views since the season premiere. It is also the most-watched show on HGTV GO. “This strong ratings performance reflects the ever-growing popularity of Ben and Erin Napier whose warm personalities leap off the screen and make everyone feel like honorary residents of Laurel,” said HGTV president Jane Latman in a press release.
While there’s no concrete explanation as to why so many people tuned into that particular episode, its unique storyline may have played a role. In this episode, the Napiers’ tackled a special project within their family as they gifted Erin’s uncle, Danny Rasberry, with a new space. Uncle Danny seemed to be a particular hit amongst fans. A few days after the episode aired, Erin took to Instagram and revealed that she had been getting a lot of questions about her uncle — many of which inquired about his relationship status. Erin confirmed that her Uncle Danny is taken by her aunt, who was camera shy and did not appear on the episode.

While one would think that an episode airing on Valentine’s Day might have a decrease in viewers as people are busy celebrating, we are glad to see that Home Town fans stay loyal. You can catch new episodes of Home Town every Sunday on HGTV at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
