By the mid-1950’s June had set her sights on becoming an actress, studying at The Actors Studio in New York City. She went on to land a role in 1959’s Country Music Holiday as well as appearing on numerous TV westerns and soap operas. However, she couldn’t stay away from music for long. In the early 1960’s she returned to music alongside her mother and sisters when they had the opportunity to work with Johnny Cash.
The relationship blossomed and soon Johnny and June shared more than a love of music; but also a love for each other. On March 1st, 1968 John and June tied the knot and their son John Carter Cash was born two years later.
For the next two decades, it looked like June’s career would live in the shadow of Johnny’s. By the late 1990’s, it was believed she had settled into retirement. June surprised everyone by releasing the album Press On, which went on to win a Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album. Yet, she didn’t stop there! Four years later she won two Grammys and was awarded Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
June and Johnny both passed away in 2003, just four months difference from each other. Their epic love story was recreated on the big screen where Reese Witherspoon played June, for which she won an academy award for her portrayal.

Deana was born in Nashville Tennessee to studio musician legend Fred Carter. She was named after one of the most popular American singers of the mid-20th Century, Dean Martin. It was in 1996 that she broke through with the release of her debut album ‘Did I Shave My Legs For this?’.
Before becoming the Platinum-selling country artist, Deana worked in stroke rehabilitation after graduating from the University of Tennessee. The stress of the job caused her to quit and give country music a real go. “It just broke my heart everyday. I had a couple patients that died. I don’t take death well.”
Following on from her musical success, Deana also appeared as an actress in a handful of television and films.
Deana and June both grew up in homes where music was the center of their world. They were no strangers to the spotlight with their famous families and both went on to enjoy great success in music, television, and films. Whilst the two women have many similarities, we can confirm that they are from different Carter families and have no relation to each other.
