Jill Gilardi joined Channel 3 Eyewitness News on November 9, 2022. Jill is originally from Massachusetts and her passion for weather erupted after Hurricane Gloria in 1985. From that point on, Jill became obsessed with tracking hurricanes and always wanted to be in the thick of bad weather. She would beg her parents to either drive her around in 6 inches of snow or take her to the beach to see the waves from a tropical system.
Jill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology at one of the top schools for meteorologists in the country, Lyndon State College, now called Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. Jill has also earned professional distinction and recognition from the American Meteorological Society and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. She is a self-proclaimed weather nerd who has a way of communicating the weather and relating it to daily life in a fun and easy-to-understand way.

Prior to moving back to New England, after 18 years of her career spent away from family, Jill most recently spent 9 years in Birmingham, Alabama at WBRC Fox 6 News, which is a sister station to WFSB. She also served viewers in Omaha, Nebraska for 2 years; Springfield, Missouri for 6 years; and started her career in 2004 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Jill has covered blizzards, ice storms, tornado outbreaks, floods, heat waves, flash freezes, tropical systems, and arctic outbreaks. Jill has experienced several unforgettable events in her career, like “Snowmageddon” just a couple weeks after starting at WBRC in Birmingham, Alabama. It was the first time she ever had to sleep at a tv station.

While working in Springfield, Missouri, Jill won an honorable mention award for Best Weathercast. Weather is a passion of hers, especially severe weather. She started storm chasing in 2008 and even worked for a storm chasing company called Extreme Chase Tours. She chases any opportunity she gets, because she loves the weather – seeing the entire life cycle of a storm and capturing images of it.
Jill is so thankful for the path that life has taken her on this far; because of her time spent in Alabama, she met her wife and the 13 pets she calls her fur-kids. Yes, she said 13! Clearly an animal lover, her house has 3 dogs and 10 cats running around and entertaining everyone. You’ll likely find Jill supporting local animal rescues, in the community. She is also into fitness, sports, gardening, yard work, camping, nature, music, and is an artist, in her free time.
Look for her on Wednesday and Thursday evenings reporting on weather related stories, broadcasting the weather at 11PM on Fridays, and on weekend evenings. Of course, she will be filling in at times on all shifts and helping out as needed during Early Warning Weather Alert days.
