Lee Goldberg Biography
Lee Goldberg is an American meteorologist currently working for WABC-TV in New York City where he anchors eyewitness News Accu-Weather coverage at 4 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm. Goldberg joined WABC-TV in July 1996.
Goldberg’s interest in weather started at age twelve when he built his first “Weather Center” out of shoeboxes and milk cartons. By age fourteen, he was broadcasting his first weather reports to his hometown of Canton, Massachusetts on Canton Cablevision. Lee’s experience led him to share his passion for weather with schools across the Tri-state, inspiring a future generation of young meteorologists!

Lee graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Meteorology in 1994. While in college, he interned at WCVB-TV and WHDH-TV in Boston, and at the National Weather Service office in Concord, New Hampshire.

Goldberg started his meteorological career in 1993 forecasting for utilities and ski areas with a private weather service and for US and Canadian radio stations. Similarly, Lee filled in on-air at WSTM-TV in Syracuse, New York contributing award-winning coverage when the historic “Blizzard of 1993” hit Central New York. After his graduation, Lee landed a full-time job at WTVH-TV in Syracuse.

Lee remained at WTVH-TV for two years, long enough to report on the winter of 1995-1996 that buried Syracuse in more than 15 feet of snow. On July 23, 1996, Lee appeared on Good Morning America, as a substitute for Sam Champion whom he replaced at WABC-TV in 2006. Since September 28, 1996, Lee has appeared in the local broadcasts formerly as the station’s weekend forecaster.
Goldberg is dedicated to community service by firmly supporting the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, hosting their annual Walkathon in Riverside Park each spring. Recently, he was acknowledged for his work with the foundation. Moreover, he is an active member of the Central Park Conservancy, supporting numerous programs to protect and preserve the park.
