Who Is Left On Amazing Race

BOCA RATON — After their eighth leg of the CBS reality competition TV show “The Amazing Race,” Morgan and Lena Franklin, sisters born and raised west of Boca Raton, are out.

With six teams left, the Franklin sisters and the other remaining 10 contestants traveled through Slovenia, a country the show hadn’t yet seen. Episode 8 aired Nov. 15.

The season, filmed over the summer, started off with 13 two-person teams in Los Angeles. The teams are gradually eliminated based on tasks they are given to navigate through foreign countries — in this season, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Germany, Slovenia, Sweden, Ireland and, finally, Washington state.

The Franklin sisters had a strong lead racing through the final stretch of Slovenia. The episode kicked off with the teams traveling to Lubljana, Slovenia, either by plane or train.

Once there, each team had to ride a glider plane to catch four numbers in Lake Bled — they’d later have to unscrambled them to reveal the year Slovenia gained its independence. Lena Franklin, on her second attempt, answered correctly.

After this Road Block, a task on “The Amazing Race” that only one person from each team can perform, the pairs had to drive to the Planica Nordic Centre, a ski resort in Rateče, Slovenia. They were given the option to do an Express Pass — climb up 1,100 steps to claim it, followed by a ride down the world’s steepest zipline — or choose a detour of field or house work.

Field work required the teams to collect, fluff and lay freshly plowed hay on a hayrack, also called a kozolec. House work required the teams to assemble a bee house. The Franklin sisters chose the hay detour.

Next was a 230-foot climb up a spiral staircase to the top of the Neboticnik Skyscraper for the following clue. Morgan and Lena struggled with the navigation, making it to the top of the building just moments after Steve Cargile and Anna Leigh Wilson, the father-daughter duo who ended in sixth place.
