Actress Judith Chapman may be a familiar face to some longtime DAYS OF OUR LIVES viewers from her previous role as Anjelica Deveraux, but now she is playing the role of Diana Cooper, who was quickly revealed to be the character of Diana Colville! Diana first appeared back in 1987 and was played by Genie Francis for two years before being written out, but now she’s back and ready to stir up even more drama in Salem!
Desperate to get Leo Stark out of their lives, Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis decided to track down his mother and enlisted John Black to help them do it. Leo’s real name is Matthew Cooper, and he was stunned to find his mother, Diana, standing on his doorstep! He tried to drag her outside to get rid of her, but she insisted that she just wanted to warn him that a man was following her and claiming her son was going by another name.

Diana let herself into the Kiriakis mansion and poured herself a drink. When Sonny arrived, Leo introduced her as his personal shopper, but Diana laughed him off and introduced herself as Matthew’s mother. Delighted, Sonny asked her to tell him all about Matthew/Leo, but had to step out of the room when Will called him. While they were alone, Leo tried to get Diana to leave again, and she hauled off and slapped him across the face! She then called him names and warned he’d better treat his mother with respect. Cowed, Leo backed down and apologized as she warned she had information that could destroy his marriage. However, after Will later filled her in about the whole sordid story where they thought they’d killed Leo and he blackmailed Sonny into marriage, she declined to help them.
When she ran into John Black, he immediately recognized her as Diana Colville, who he’d met in the late ‘80s. She’d been after a mysterious computer disk that would reveal the location of a rare and valuable mineral. She pretended to date Victor Kiriakis, but fell for Roman Brady, who was actually John Black. (It’s complicated!) Victor teamed up with Diana’s mother, Serena, to steal Diana’s fortune, and Roman/John kept rescuing her. They broke up briefly when John learned she’d framed Victor for a crime to take revenge, but they got back together and even became engaged. However, after Roman/John nearly died in a car bombing, he began to believe that Marlena Evans was really alive, and a jealous Diana split up with him and left Salem.

Diana was still smitten with John, much to Leo’s chagrin. And when she accused Leo of killing her husband, he countered that the man was an abusive pig and he did the world a favor! But later, Diana confessed to John that Leo was actually his son! Desperate to get John away from Marlena, Diana tried to poison her with penicillin, but she survived and Diana was arrested. She then revealed to John and Leo that she’d tampered with the DNA test and they actually aren’t father and son. What other secrets is this vixen hiding?
