American professional basketball player Lindsay Whalen is currently plying her trade with the Minnesota Lynx of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a point guard. She is also the head coach of the University of Minnesota women’s basketball team.

During her professional career from 2004, Whalen won four WNBA titles with the Lynx as well as World and Olympic titles with the United States Women’s National Basketball Team. She represented the country at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and Rio 2016, both of which she won on home turf.

Lindsay Marie Whalen Greve was born on May 9, 1982 in Hutchinson, Minnesota to parents Kathy and Neil Whalen.

Growing up in the city with his four siblings – two brothers and two sisters, Whalen developed a love and passion for basketball at a very young age. As a teenager, she played the game for fun, then early in her basketball career at Hutchinson High School.

Whalen was a four-time conference All-Missotach pick as well as a four-time honorable mention All-State basketball pick. As a junior, she averaged 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists and later won a national title. She was ranked 13th nationally with her club team, the Minnesota Jaguars.

To top it all off, she also led Minnesota to their first-ever Final Four appearance in 2004 – the program had only been featured in the tournament once before joining the team.

Whalen was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten in three consecutive years from 2002 to 2004 and won the 2004 and 2002 Fast Break club award. In 2005, the University of Minnesota retired his number 13 jersey in a ceremony at the Williams Arena. Internationally, she has performed in Russia, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
