Who Is Nina In The Cleaning Lady

On The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 4, “Bahala Na,” Arman and Nadia end up tangled in even more drama with Robert, and Garrett continues to be the dullest character on this show.

Don’t get me wrong, Garrett is… okay. But all of the work he does is done by someone else. Whether it’s Thony or Russo, someone usually pieces together what Garrett thinks he’s found on his own.

All of Garrett’s scenes recently are him inflating his own ego over and over to see who’s going to listen enough times to realize he’s not all he says he is.

Garrett is a joke at work, and he’s a joke to Maya. Nothing he’ll do is going to be able to change that. As Maya said, he’s considered himself a rescuer, and I wish everyone would realize that’s not who he really is.

Having episodes like “Bahala Na” that are much less Garrett-centric makes for a better episode all around.

This episode highlights Nadia, Arman, Thony, and Fiona, and it’s the best of the season so far.

Watching Arman and Nadia finally stand up against Robert as a united front is a relief to see. They were almost never on the same page when it came to Hayak, so it’s nice to see them acting like an actual couple who runs a business.

As much as Robert feels he knows Nadia, he only knows Nadia from years ago when they were first together, and that is painfully obvious.

The big surprise of this episode doesn’t come when Arman empathizes with someone who owes Robert money, or when he shows up for Thony, but when he kills Jon for Thony.

Thony also reveals more of her true self on “Bahala Na” in letting us finally see badass Thony, intentionally or not.

The Cleaning Lady has made it very clear where they stand on good vs. bad, as Thony won’t sell drugs on the strip, and she’s made to be the better person because of it.

Actually, though, Thony is barely hesitant to speak about selling organs on the black market, and she’s almost quicker to suggest that Jon has to go.

Oops, wait, sorry, red market.

Getting more of Chris — of all the kids — is always wonderful to see, but it doesn’t quite feel like the show knows where it’s going with Chris yet.

Chris almost committed suicide, and even though they didn’t know all of it, Thony and Fiona are treating it like he is acting out for no reason, and that he didn’t just murder his uncle.

I fear that the show is going to try and sweep what Chris did under the rug, making that he killed his uncle a bigger issue than the fact that he needs serious mental health help, even if it’s risky for him to speak with anyone.

The fact that the show is even showing this much, though, suggests that they clearly care for Chris.

As much as I hate to say it, Nadia deserves better than Arman.

When the show gets to a place where Nadia and Arman are just besties in crime, and Thony is their part-time bestie, then you will realize the potential of the show.

Nina giving birth feels completely out of left field and doesn’t fit with the rest of the episode. It’s meant to be a bonding moment for the De La Rosa family, but instead, it feels disjointed and highly unnecessary.

In the end, this episode is an excellent episode for story-building and character insight, and the show is all the better for it.

Stray Thoughts
  • I mean this in the nicest, most respectful way possible: Fiona better thank Thony for saving her!
  • Mookie jersey spot #3.
  • Robert is teetering the line between flirty and creepy with Nadia, and given what he did to Thony, I’m afraid of what’s going to happen if he gets in too deep with her and Arman.
