Who Is Ramey’s Caddie

The final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship on Sunday marked the end of a special week on the PGA Tour for four golfers.

Chad Ramey, Ford Clegg, Hayden Buckley and Davis Riley are from Mississippi or hold ties to the Magnolia State. While the latter two didn’t make it to the weekend due to a missed cut, the display of talent from the state was strong while their appreciation for the course was evident – with Buckley noting on Thursday how much he loves the course.

Here’s a look at how they each performed in Jackson.

Chad Ramey

Final score: -12 (T-16)

Ramey had the best week of those with a Mississippi connection. The Fulton native and Mississippi State product hovered around the top 20 most of the week after shooting 4-under on Friday and 5-under on Saturday.

Ramey’s best finish in his home state’s PGA Tour event came in 2019, the year he debuted in the event, when he finished tied-26th.

He capped his play with a 1-under round on Sunday to ensure a spot in the top 20.

Ford Clegg

Final score: +2 (T-77)

Clegg, a recent Mississippi State graduate who comes from Birmingham, Alabama, made his PGA Tour debut in Jackson. He took advantage of the opportunity by shooting 7 under on Friday to make the cut just seven back of the leader.

“It’s a dream come true,” Clegg said. “I definitely got the call … and was super pumped, but I also wanted to take advantage of my opportunity.”

Clegg shot 6 over Saturday before shooting 3 over in the final round.

He was accompanied by his family throughout the weekend as they walked behind the ropes for each shot. His dad, Trey Clegg, served as his caddie. The voices of the MSU fans helped too.

“It’s fun being around Mississippi State fans, as well,” Clegg said. “A lot of support out here, which is fun.”

Hayden Buckley

Final score: -1 (missed cut)

Buckley tried making a run toward the cut with an early birdie on Friday. However, a pair of bogeys on the front nine and a bogey on the back nine kept him out.

Buckley is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, who attended Missouri. However, he spent much of his life living in Tupelo, where he attended and played golf at Tupelo High School.

He entered the week at No. 64 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings.

Davis Riley

Final score: E (missed cut)

Riley, a Hattiesburg native, didn’t make it to the weekend after shooting 1 under on Thursday and 1 over on Friday. A pair of bogeys on par 3 holes proved costly in the second round along with a double-bogey on the final hole.

Across his final four holes, he shot 4 over. Riley entered at No. 62 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings.
