August Alsina has sent social media into a spin with his final interview on reality television show The Surreal Life.
The latest season of the VH1 show, which sees celebrities sign up to have their every move recorded as they live together for two weeks, came to an end on Monday evening (November 21).

During the closing scenes of the episode and season, the “No Love” singer, 30, opened up about finding love and introduced viewers to someone very special in his life.
The Surreal Life, which ran for six seasons from 2003 to 2006 before returning this year, has been credited with being the first celebrity social experiment and has featured names such as Janice Dickinson, Flavor Flav and Brigitte Nielsen in the past.
This season, however, saw Dennis Rodman, Stormy Daniels, Frankie Muniz, Tamar Braxton and others join Alsina in the lineup.
In his final confessional interview Nicki Minaj collaborator Alsina opened up about love. First, a clip of him saying, “I would like a love that feels limitless,” during his time in the house was shown.
He then spoke directly to the cameras, saying: “And then what do you know? Love showed up, but in a new way.

“I want to share that and really honor the person that I love and loves me back and is teaching me so much about love and healing. I want to do that in front of the world because it defies all of the constructs one would say love is supposed to be or love should look like.”
Another man then joined Alsina and sat down next to him. The pair hugged as Alsina said, “I love you,” and the episode then ended.
Despite him never saying so, many viewers took Alsina’s interview to be a “coming out” and believed he was introducing the world to a boyfriend.
It has since been reported, however, that the man, who people on social media have identified as a musician called Zu, is actually Alsina’s brother.
The pair released a song together titled “2AM” on June 24, 2022, and have performed on stage together.
On July 18 Alsina shared a video of the pair wishing Sheila Blair, his mother, happy birthday. The caption read: “Happy birthday to our MF mama! I’m so proudddd to be Sheila Boy!!!” suggesting they share a mom.
On his own Instagram, Zu has not shared any pictures or videos of himself with Alsina but he has promoted their single together to his 26,300 followers.

At the time of writing Alsina has not made any further comment on his interview on The Surreal Life or the identity of the man who joined him.
Similarly, Zu has not responded to the speculation that he was the man on The Surreal Life, or his relationship with Alsina.
Newsweek has contacted representatives for Alsina and The Surreal Life for comment.
Alsina, who won Best New Artist at the BET Awards in 2014, has made headlines for his personal life in the past.
In July 2020 Alsina claimed that he had been romantically involved with Jada Pinkett Smith, telling Breakfast Club host Angela Yee: “I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her.”
Pinkett Smith, who has been married to Will Smith since 1997, later revealed that she and her husband had separated for a period of time when her romance with Alsina happened.
