This is a very popular saying, because it truly has a deeper meaning to it. This blog is inspired by the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” NIV.

Joseph was the second yongest amongst Jacob’s children, and Jacob loved him more than his other children because “he was a child of his old age and he made him a coat of many colours” Genesis 37:3. Joseph’s brothers hated him and hated him more when he had a dream. Joseph dreamt that he and his brothers were in the field binding sheaves and all of a sudden his sheaf arose in an upright position while his brothers sheaves stood round about his and bowed before his sheaf, Genesis 37:7. Joseph said even the sun, the moon and the stars bowed before his star too. As soon as he told his dream to his brothers, they percieved glory and their hate and jealousy was out of control. Joseph brothers sold him later for just twenty pieces of silver. This led to the question – Can man curse whom God has bless?

After many years of them thinking that they suceeded in getting rid of Joseph, they realized that Joseph was who God has choosen to save the lands from famine and he was who God sent before them to preserve lives, Genesis 45:5.
The lesson here is that when God has approved your destiny, no man can ever cut it no matter how much they try because your destiny is in God’s hand. When God says you will reach your destination in life, it will surely come to pass no matter how the enemy tries to stop you. And also Joseph was the youngest, which means that it doesn’t matter whether you are young, God can decide to bless the youngest.
