Who Killed Anna Ross Manifest

Warning: Spoilers for Manifest Season 4, Part 1 ahead.

In case Manifest’s looming Death Date wasn’t enough of a stressor, Season 4 of drama introduced another threat to 828 passengers: a killer…or two.

The first 10 episodes of Manifest’s fourth and final season hit Netflix on November 4, reminding fans that Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), Cal (Ty Doran), Ben (Josh Dallas), and the rest of the 828ers are in more danger than ever before. As the group scrambles to complete Callings, solve the flight’s mysteries, and keep their lifeboat afloat to save humanity, they also have to protect themselves from a killer who’s solely targeting passengers.

So who was behind the 828 killing spree? We’ll break it down for you. Right after we remind you that some major Manifest Season 4 spoilers lie ahead.

Who Is Killing 828 Passengers in Manifest Season 4, Part 1?

The 828 murders begin in Episode 6, and I know what you’re probably thinking: It’s Angelina (Holly Taylor). But plot twist, it isn’t! In fact, Angelina is even targeted by the killer at one point. We’ll get to that in a bit.

After Ben and the other passengers are rescued from Angelina’s reign of terror at Adrian’s (Jared Grimes) boarding house, she flees back home to her mother, Noelle Meyer (Heidi Armbruster), who is surprisingly glad to learn she’s still alive. I say surprisingly, because in a flashback, we learn that Angelina’s mother kicked her out of the house after she killed Grace (Athena Karkanis) and kidnapped baby Eden. She was visibly disgusted by her daughter and wanted nothing to do with her back then. But now, she has a change of heart. Hmm…

In Episode 6, Michaela has a Calling of an aquarium, and Ben points her in the direction of Sam While, a passenger who owns and aquarium supply company. She tracks him down only to find he’s dead on his kitchen floor, so she calls Jared and they start investigating. In the same episode, Eagan goes to see Noelle in hopes of finding Angelina, but Noelle lies and says she’s dead. INTERESTING.

The following episode, Michaela has another morbid calling. She sees blood pouring down in the shape of a red X and interprets it to mean the killer isn’t even close to being done. Turns out she’s right, because Anna Ross — the woman who housed Angelina and Eden — is also murdered. After doing some digging, Michaela and Jared learn that Sam took Angelina in, too, so they assume Angelina is taking revenge “on anyone who helped her, or didn’t help her enough.” They pay a visit to Angelina’s mom, who says she bets her daughter did kill the passengers, bur she also lies and says she hasn’t seen Angelina in years. So something’s fishy about this mom, right?

Michaela and Jared still believe Angelina could be involved, but their theory is squashed when they visit the morgue. They not only learn that both victims have identical red X markings in blood on their left palms — suggesting the murders were committed by the same person — but that the killer is 130 to 135 pounds minimum, because the stabbings were deep enough to leave bruises, which requires a certain weight. They realize the killer couldn’t be Angelina, but before they figure out who is, a third passenger is stabbed to death. Just wait. It gets worse.

Not only is a third passenger killed, but it was Violet Wheeler, the girl who just went on a date with Cal (aka Gabriel). Now Cal is crushed, and police think HE is the killer. (Obvious spoiler alert: He’s not!)

After Ben helps Michaela revisit her calling, she realizes she didn’t see a bloody X, she saw a bloody cross. She remembers a cross at Noelle’s house and knows who the killer is. Do you? It’s Noelle. Come on!

In Episode 8, Noelle leads Angelina by the arm into a warehouse and says, “We need to keep you safe, angel.” When they enter the abandoned room, they find Adrian tied to chair, and Noelle ties Angelina up right beside him. “Soon you’ll watch as he’s cleansed from the world like the others who made you abandon God’s path,” Noelle says. Angelina and Adrian try to break free before Noelle can harm them, but when Noelle finally cuts herself loose, she leaves Adrian behind to suffer. (This girl!!!!)

Noelle returns to kill Adrian, but just as she dunks his head into a bucket of water, Michaela and Jared show up and arrest her. With Noelle in custody, Cal gets out of jail for good. But the terrifying storyline isn’t over yet. While watching Eden and Olive (Luna Blaise) at Ben’s house, Zeke (Matt Long) is overcome with the feeling that danger is near. Just as he tells Olive to check the doors, Michaela calls to warn him the killer’s still out there.

A police officer comes to the door to ask Olive if everything’s OK, and she lets him in to search for an intruder. He goes rogue, shoots Zeke in the leg, and Zeke recognizes him as Kenneth, ANGELINA’S DAD. (This whole freaking family!) Predictably, he’s there to snatch baby Eden to prove to Angelina that she’s not her guardian angel. But before he makes it to Eden’s room, Olive pushes him out the second story window, putting an end to Season 4’s passenger killings…for now at least. So there you have it, folks. As soon as Angelina took a breather from causing harm, her mom and dad stepped in to take over.
