Loraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Arthur Gourounlian were back to give their professional and tough-talking reviews and scores tonight.

Former Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan and TikTok star Miriam Mullins were both already axed.

Fair City star Shane Quigley Murphy with partner Laura Nolan were the latest couple to be eliminated with the fewest votes from viewers tonight.

They danced the rumba to Sam Smith’s version of How Will I Know.

Shane showed a more vulnerable side of him and Arthur said: “That was dark and mysterious and I absolutely loved it.”

However, Loraine and Brian wanted him to take the lead and “shine even more”.

Loraine said: “You got a little bit lost with that vulnerability. It was a beautifully constructed rumba but I just needed you to actually step up and sine more and give me that presence in it.”

Brian added: “There’s no doubt you have an absolutely leading lady with Laura, what I wanted you to do was, I wanted you to be that leading man with her.”

The actor managed to get 19 points.

Speaking after being axed, Shane said: “I wouldn’t be lying if I said I wasn’t gutted but it’s such a wonderful opportunity to be apart of the show.

“So could not be happier with how it went tonight and it just wasn’t our night in the end.”

Laura added: “I’m absolutely gutted for him and also because dedicated dance week is next week. But I’m so proud.”

RTE viewers were shocked that Shane had been eliminated.

Niall tweeted: “Wrong, wrong, wrong and another wrong for good measure. This is a popularity contest, not a dance comp.”

Another viewer said: “I am shocked! I’d also be very p***ed – given Davy who can’t dance is still there.”

Ross wrote: “Shane and Laura… excuse me what?”

Cat commented: “Shock exit.”

Bernie added: “Sorry to see Shane go.”

‘SMOOTH DAVY’

Jockey Davy Russell and partner Kylee Vincent kicked off the show tonight as they performed the American smooth to Ain’t Misbehavin’ by Sarah Vaughan.

Despite Davy’s nerves, he managed to impress the judges as Loraine called him a “smooth Davy”.

Arthur added: “You are known to be heavy footed but not tonight.”

Although Brian agreed with the other judges for the most part, he was harder to impress and said Davy’s “not the complete package yet”.

The pair got a total score of 20 points.

Next up was 2FM’s Laura Fox and Denys Samson doing the samba to Demi Lovato and Luis Fonsi’s song Echame la Culpa.

BORN TO SAMBA

Laura absolutely blew the judges away.

Arthur told: “That attitude was perfection for this dance. You left me thirsty for some more.”

Brian said: “For a girl from Galway, you looked like you were born in Brazil.”

Laura got all nines from the judges and walked away with 27 points.

Wild Youth singer David Whelan and partner Salome Chachua followed with the cha cha cha to Paul Russell’s Lil Boo Thing.

Brian left host Jennifer Zamparelli’s mouth wide open as he said: “Every week I find myself asking this question – is there any dance he can’t do brilliantly?

EILEEN’S TWIST

“And tonight I’ve answered my question. The answer is, yeah there’s one – the cha cha.”

Despite the judges tough comments, they all gave him 8 points, with a total of 24 points.

Former RTE newsreader Eileen Dunne and her pro partner Robert Rowinski followed with the jive to Let’s Twist Again by Chubby Checker.

The judges had some great things to say about Eileen but she still ended up with just 17 points.

Next up was former Miss World Rosanna Davison with partner Stephen Vincent who did they Charleston

NURSE ROSIE

Rosanna absolutely wowed the judges with her kicks and lifts.

Brian told her: “Well above anything I could have expected you to do. That’s the Charleston to get the pulses racing.”

She got a total of 26 points.

International Drag star Blu Hydrangea with partner Simone Arena performed the contemporary ballroom to Loreen’s Tattoo.

Blu danced her heart out with her mic even falling out during the performance.

She was praised for her dedication to keep going even after the mishap.

‘MISSING THE WHISTLE’

They got a total score of 25 points.

Next up was Paralympian Jason Smyth and Karen Byrne dancing the salsa

Arthur said: “I saw some bum and hip action tonight. You did it, but would you be the king of salsa? No.”

Brian said it was “missing the whistle”.

They got a total of 18 points.

Six O’Clock Show presenter Katja Mia and her pro partner Ervinas Merfeldas finished the night with viennese waltz to Avril Lavignes Keep Holding On.

Brian said: “You’re definitely beginning to blossom as a dancer.”

Loraine added: “You put your heart into this.”

Katja was left in tears and managed to bag 23 points.
