Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have bought an extravagant nine-bedroom Californian mansion as they seek to create a new life for themselves on the other side of the Atlantic.
It’s emerged that the former royals have secretly set up home in the swanky Santa Barbara neighbourhood of Montecito, and will count celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey as near neighbours.

Documents show the 16-bathroom property was bought on June 18 for $14,650,000 (£11 million) and the couple reportedly moved in six weeks ago.
US House listing site Zillow describes it as a 14,563-square-foot home sitting on 5.4 acres of land. The main house includes a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, gym, game room, arcade, theatre, wine cellar and five-car garage.
The estate also boasts sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, century old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a pool, according to the listing.
Privacy has always been one of the major priorities for the couple and it’s thought the neighbourhood will give them a chance to enjoy a secluded and luxury home-life as they raise Archie, who turned one during the lockdown.
Leading luxury house seller Jason Streatfeild, who has an office in Montecito, told MailOnline: ’It’s the type of neighbourhood where you may not realise who your neighbour is but you really don’t care.
‘It’s not unusual to run into Oprah Winfrey at the grocery store or to be sitting next to Ellen DeGeneres for lunch at the Miramar Hotel.

‘It’s a very private and exclusive area, a place where you can escape with an ocean in front of you and the mountains behind you.

The couple originally moved to Vancouver Island in Canada after announcing their intention to step back from Royal duties earlier this year.
They quickly switched to Los Angeles and spent much of lockdown living in the home of actor and producer Tyler Perry.
The new house is a long way from where they lived after first getting married – Berkshire’s Frogmore Cottage, near Windsor Castle, which was renovated for £2.4 million at the expense of the British taxpayer.
The pair have agreed to pay £18,000 a month to repay the cost of refurbishing the cottage but Royal expert Ingrid Seward said some will feel they should have repaid it all before splashing out on a new home.

Harry and Meghan are said to be worth around $43 million but it’s not clear whether the couple have purchased their Californian mansion with family help.
Some sources say Prince Charles lent a hand, while others claim the couple are proud to have bought it entirely on their own.
Neighbours told MailOnline they had not seen the Sussexes, saying that residents on the private roads often kept to themselves.
Property records show Harry and Meghan’s new mansion was built in 2003. Despite its huge price tag, the pair have secured a bit of a bargain.
A previous owner bought it in May 2009 for over $25 million and it was once listed for more than $35 million.
