Who Makes Craftsman Chain Saws

We’re proponents of the usefulness and versatility of chainsaws. And they’re especially helpful now, as winter approaches. In addition to a portable generator, an electric chainsaw could prove indispensable in the cold, snowy months—for clearing fallen trees after storms to cutting wood for the fireplace. And if you don’t have a chainsaw in your toolkit, Lowe’s is discounting a few already affordable models from Craftsman.

The first one up for sale is Craftsman’s CMECS614 14-Inch Electric Chainsaw, which is 61 percent off, bringing the price down to just $39 from $100. With a 14-inch bar and 8-amp motor, this chainsaw is a practical companion for light- and medium-duty jobs, with the ability to cut stumps and branches that are up to 12 inches thick. There’s also an auto-oiling feature, so the guide bar and chain stay lubricated. Just know that, because of the sheer low price of this saw, it doesn’t have some of the user-friendly features of others. Case in point: you need a wrench (which comes included) to loosen the bar so you can tighten the chain.

Also be aware that the CMECS614 isn’t cordless. The cord will limit the chainsaw’s maneuverability and restrict your range, and you have to be very careful when walking with it and to keep the chain safely away from it. That said, a corded chainsaw won’t run out of juice as long as it’s plugged in.

Lowe’s is also offering this Craftsman CMECSP610 10-Inch Corded Pole Chainsaw for 63 percent off. Like the model above, this one features 8 amps of power that’s ideal for light yard work and pruning. You can use the mini chainsaw on its own, or you can connect it to the telescoping pole, which provides a reach of 15 feet. The pole allows you to cut branches you could otherwise only reach using a ladder, reducing the risk of accidents or injuries. The versatility makes Craftsman’s 2-in-1 a key tool for regular plant and tree maintenance.

You do need to plug in Craftman’s 2-in-1 like its larger counterpart. But, as we mentioned, the benefit is continuous power, allowing you to work without worry of running out of juice. When it’s cold out, and work needs to get done, you don’t need the hassle of a depleted battery. With today’s savings, which run until November 4, you can get both Craftsman chainsaws for around $100, making them affordable and versatile additions to your toolkit.
