The Bricktown Brewery, one of Bricktown’s longest continually running restaurants, soon will celebrate completion of a $500,000 makeover that includes an overhaul of its menu and tap offerings.
A fresh paint job on the outside, with new signs declaring a commitment to using Made in Oklahoma food, is just a hint of the change that has taken place inside the Brewery, 1 N Oklahoma Ave.

Inside, customers will discover a completely overhauled bar area that still showcases the brewery’s tanks. Worn-out carpeting and partition walls have disappeared, replaced by a more open dining area with wood floors that hark back to the building’s early days as a warehouse a century ago.
“We love restaurants, beer and food,” said Buck Warfield, of Edmond-based ownership group Enduring Brands.

“This is the Brewery’s 20th year in business, and we want to bring back the energy, excitement and level of quality experienced by customers back when they were buying Nirvana CDs and paying $1.13 a gallon for gas.”
The R.T. McLain family opened Bricktown Brewery in 1992. At the time, the family owned the entire block bounded by Sheridan, Oklahoma and Main Street. The restaurant and club was owned for much of its existence by Jim Cowan, who sold it in 2007 to the current owners.
Customers new and old will experience a whole new Brewery once the remodel is complete, with new colors, new booths, new tables and chairs as well as stained or replaced millwork throughout the bar area.
Alongside the fresh coats of paint, visitors will be greeted with a fresh attitude as well.

With a grand opening set for later this month, final touches are under way on a new menu, expanded offerings of handcrafted beers and a new emphasis on what owners call the “Oklahomaness at the core of the restaurant’s brand.”
“To complement the beer we brew on-site, we’re including Made in Oklahoma products in our new recipes and naming our new beer selections with Oklahoma culture in mind,” Warfield said. “Made in Oklahoma, by Oklahomans, for Oklahomans. And people from out of town, too, of course. Texans, even.”
Partner Gary Duckworth noted the restaurant will be more connected to customers through multiple social media venues.
The owners also are evaluating whether to reintroduce live music — which has included performances by Huey Lewis and the News, the Dixie Chicks, the Spin Doctors, the Doobie Brothers, Rick Springfield and Creed.
“We’re bringing back the fun,” Warfield said. “We’re making sure everyone on staff brings energy, attitude and a sense of humor to Bricktown Brewery every day to provide a great experience to our customers.”
