These changes included adding another jai-alai fronton, constructing a 20-table poker room, 250 slot machines, and building a hotel with 125 rooms. The project also included a new restaurant called The Court of Honor and a lounge named after legendary jock Lazarito. Fine even said that he hoped to complete everything within 18 months and increase revenues to $30 million per year.

These two venues agreed to start buying games from Dania once again. Besides that, Hixon announced a new expansion plan that involved 500 slots and a hotel with 165 rooms. The price tag for the entire undertaking was $15 million.
Things seemed to be going well until September 26, 2002. That was the day when Hixon’s attorneys informed the bankruptcy court that the casino’s owners had decided to shut down the establishment, laying off all employees. The reason was that they could not pay the salaries or find buyers for the venture.
