Exceptional Living Centers Continues to Improve Local Facilities

When Exceptional Living Centers acquired four skilled nursing facilities in Louisville on November 1, 2019, they became the third largest senior living provider in the Greater Louisville area. Exceptional Senior Living in Prospect gained four sister facilities in Clifton Oaks Care Center, St. Matthews Care Center, Lyndon Woods Care and Rehabilitation and Hillcreek Rehabilitation and Care.

“As a Kentucky-based company, we were thrilled to expand our Louisville presence,” said Tom Watts, president and CEO of Exceptional Living Centers. “We had been waiting for the right portfolio to come along that fit our goals and vision as a company and it was worth the wait.”

Since November, Exceptional Living Centers has worked tirelessly to impart their mission of providing compassionate care while exceeding expectations. Centers received updated systems to streamline their processes, plus access to a central intake center to improve communication with referrals.

The transition also brought a need for local leadership. Nicolle Meade joined Exceptional Living Centers in November and currently serves as the Vice President of Operations for the Louisville campuses. With 16 years of experience in the Louisville senior living industry, Nicolle immediately sought to improve local relationships and re-establish trust with area hospitals.

“It wasn’t enough to say that these centers had new owners,” Meade said. “We had to prove that we were making changes and were committed to being leaders in this market.”

Leadership that was displayed with the opening of one of the area’s first dedicated units for COVID-19 patients. The Respiratory Recovery Unit at Hillcreek Rehabilitation and Care opened April 15 and has admitted over 40 patients to date, 20 of which have successfully discharged.

“We are extremely proud of the work that has been done, not only at Hillcreek, but at all of our centers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Marc Hurst. Chief Operating Officer of Exceptional Living Centers. “We acted early, efficiently and aggressively, and the results speak for themselves.”
