Who Owns Kitchen Social

ORANGE VILLAGE, Ohio – When the owners of Kitchen Social thought about branching out of Columbus, where they have a pair of restaurants, they fell in love with what Pinecrest development had to offer.

What wasn’t as appealing was the layout of the former Next Door restaurant.

So Brian O’Malley opened things up – a lot.

More than half a dozen huge garage doors are rolled up, letting a warm breeze in and an open vantage. The front doors, formerly on the side, are more centrally located. The bar previously in the middle of the space, cut off the restaurant; it is redesigned with a curvy layout and seats about two dozen people. And the patio is now inside and out.

“We like it bright and airy,” O’Malley said about the space that covers 4,400 square feet inside and about 1,000 outside. The restaurant is located at a high-traffic circle in Pinecrest, caddy-corner from AC Hotels and across from Shake Shack. it opens at 3 p.m. today – Thursday, July 14.

“The development is just right for us,” O’Malley said. “We’re on the 50-yard line, right? We’re truly blessed to be here.”

The move to Greater Cleveland was a good fit, he said: It’s close enough to their Columbus locations, and Pinecrest offers population density to pull from Chagrin Falls, Beachwood and Pepper Pike as well as solid demographics. The corner spot in the heart of the shopping-lifestyle development offers fantastic visibility, he added, and the design takes advantage of that.

“We really felt we could be successful here,” he said.

Everything is made from scratch, and the menu is American classics, from steak and seafood (fresh salmon and cod) to pasta and pizza (Kitchen Social makes its own dough – and cornbread). Drinks are focused primarily along the lines of cocktails and wine, though a couple of local craft beers, Michelob Ultra and assorted cans will be offered.

“What made us successful is the overall experience,” O’Malley said.

Service and hospitality are the keys to Kitchen Social’s success, said O’Malley, who said he attends every training class for the restaurant.

“We’re going to give you everything you need to be successful – except personality,” he said. “We have a good team; we’re excited about Cleveland.”

Location: It’s at 211 Park Ave., Orange Village in the Pinecrest development.

Hours: 3 to 9 p.m. Monday to Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Brunch: Weekend brunch is offered on Saturday and Sunday. The menu includes “cinnabiscuits” (signature biscuits with brown-sugar cinnamon and cream-cheese icing), along with chorizo scramble, chicken n’ waffles, crème brulee French Toast and several other options.
