With dozens of deliveries to date in the Westport 112 series, Westport Yachts clearly is filling a desire. The raised-pilothouse megayacht series premiered way back in 1998, believe it or not. Wisely, the yard keeps up with the times through design updates. Primarily coming from client requests, those updates, in combination with buyers’ own personal touches, explain why owners like those of Hat Trick are happy with the results.
Some of the latest design updates benefiting Hat Trick are styling changes. For instance, the ports along the lower and main decks are larger. The lower-deck ports are dramatically larger, in fact, and the main-deck ones appear as long continuous tinted glass (although mullions do separate them inside). In addition, the hardtop is sportier.

Since this Westport 112 started on spec, the general arrangement follows common preferences, including the master suite and three guest staterooms below decks. Additionally, Hat Trick has a country kitchen. Westport will move non-structural bulkheads to let owners reconfigure entire decks if they so choose. It’s worth noting, however, that every Westport 112 except for two so far have this just-mentioned layout.
Regardless, in working with interior designer Sylvia Bolton, the owners of Hat Trick have a highly personal ambience to enjoy. More to the point, it’s casually elegant. A Nespresso machine below decks lets guests help themselves, for example. They liked her original ideas of using cerused oak (a.k.a. limed oak) and stones like amber onyx, the fittingly named Blue Jeans marble, and white marble, too. Furthermore, they appreciated the medley of unevenly stained palm bark used to cover the walls by the raised pilothouse.

Bolton says it was “fabulous” working with the owners of Hat Trick. They even were all of the same mindset when it came to drawing attention to select works of art. Specifically, the owners chose a piece created by a Native American artist for the overall design scheme’s starting point. It was perfect for an art niche (above) that Bolton had penned for the foyer leading past the raised pilothouse.
